Post by: Tazzy on 21 November 2010, 22:49
its all getting worst on my mk4

it has trouble starting, and makes a funny noise when it does
when i turn the key, theres a clicking noise coming from behind the dash, it can also be heard from the engine bay

would the battery cause the speedo to not work though?

the speedo will sometimes stay at zero, and sometimes it was go up and down and not pick up the speed that im doing

might be worth a note, when my battery died stone dead the speedo made a really loud noise like it was rewinding or something, was fine when the battery was charged after

- ive got no speedo at all, it will sometimes stay at zero, and sometimes it was go up and down and not pick up the speed that im doing

- it has trouble starting, and makes a funny noise when it does

- when i turn the key, theres a clicking noise coming from behind the dash, it can also be heard from the engine bay

- sometimes, not all the time, even though it has trouble starting all the time, the clock on the dash somestimes resets to 00:00

- sometimes idles at 11k

- clicking from behind clocks also occurs when driving

adding onto all these problems, yesderday night it go so bad, i broke down in walsall, just as i was leaving a carpark, the electrics cut out, steering locked up just as i was coming towards an island, managed to miss it mind, but then the car wouldnt start at all, and had to call on some mates to rescue me

one of which asked me if i had filled up that day, funnilly enough i had filled up at morrisons, he said it may be a bad batch so just needed clearing out

any more ideas?

thanks
