Renew about 40,000 miles to be safe.

VW official line is something like inspection at 80K and replacement of belt and tensioner at 120K on a 1.8 20v / 20VT......However, most UK dealers now seem to be recommending changing the belt at between 60K-80K.

Either way you have a way to go before you need to do it on yours!

Thats very low milage for a 4 year old car Graham, do you only let it out on Sundays

I was told by VW that mine wouldn't need doing until 120k which I thought was alot of miles on 1 cambelt
