if the mother board is even slightly warped your screwed with those ebay kits, mine was, fixed it worked fine for a week then just came back and no matter how times i fixed it it wouldnt work! just bought a new slim in the end! happy days!

I fixed mine with one of the kits off ebay, didnt work first time, but i emailed the guy and he told me to try to loosen the screws slightly as I may have overtightened them. Got it working after his advice and not had any problems (fingers crossed) since the fix and thats been a couple of months.

i've fixed loads of 360's using the ebay kits - the trick is to not go mental and tighten the fook out of the screws.

if after the fix you still get rrod then you need to let it overheat for 20 minutes (or when two red lights come on) with the screws finger tight.

let it cool for 30 mins and it should be all good. nip the screws up and away you go.

only been beaten 2 consoles so far

The kit i got came with a guy aswell and thats the advice i got about letting it heat up, cool down and tighten..

The ebay supplier forgot to put in the 16 steel and 16 nylon washers so waiting on them now

Was hoping to get it sorted over the weekend but will just have to wait

Ok not long term afterall

3 lights issue is fixed but the 360 has frozen twice today already, getting worried now..

Any ideas??? From reading on the net, theres suggestions of cleaning out the power supply. Thats prob the next thing ill be looking at..

Dont have cash at the moment to replace it. Have purchased good few games and rockband, guitar hero bits etc so slow to replace with the PS3 which i might have to start saving for :(

Unfortunately the kits are only a temporary fix, I repaired mine it lasted a couple of months then RROD returned.  Going to purchase a new 360 in the new year.  Hope you get it sorted again soon.

Red Ring Of Death (4 flashing red lights on the xbox), it depends wat model u hav. the release 360's were more prone to it but microsoft made changes to the motherboard and cooling on newer models so it will be less likely to fail

Ok took it apart and, redid the thermal paste, heat sinks etc. Worked for about 15 min and back in the same boat again

Not working for long enough to trade in anywhere...

Might just have to sell it in parts on ebay...seems to be worth more in bits than as a whole package..

Might just end up putting the money towards a ps3......

xbox live subscription over a few years would buy me the ps3 anyway and that will double up as a blu ray player...

well peed off!!

Opps!

Mine went last night.

I was in Tesco during the day looking to buy Black Ops. At £44 I thought better of it and decided to get it online.

Got home and fired up the b!tch and got the red rings.  So on a positive note, £44 not wasted.

I bought it in 2006 so It's lasted well.

So, I'm Offline for the forseable future.

Jonathan.

I had my old one fixed 3 times and it just kept breaking again, I think that once theyve gone, theyve gone. Bought a new one on the mrs debenhams store card when there was a 'game' in there. genius.

it is not always inevitable that it will be dead once it has red ringed.

if you do the fix properly and be sensible with your gaming time and let it cool properly then they can last for a long time after the repair. when you have finished a heavy gaming session let it idle at the dashboard for 10 minutes before you shut down.

i have been fixing them for over 8 months now daily and only 6 have had to come back for reworking.

if you do it right first time then they are reliable.

have a look here for some cooling mods and tips on rrod fixing
