i have just put a new peco exhaust on to my mk3 golf 1.6 and it sounds amazing but when u rev it high and then let it idle on the way down it pops is that normal and what causes this?
-
It's normal. It's just unburnt fuel lighting up inside the exhaust. All exhausts do it, just that OEM ones quieten the pops.

Peco

Peco
unfortunately, i was thinking the same, but each to their own
-
?
I had a peco backbox, sounded standard, although centre silencer was on still.
-
whats up with peco?
and mine is quite nice note to it :) and still has center box on it
how can i make it so there is no unburnt fuel?

 Typical boy racer/fast and furious wannabe superstar
A FULL stainless steel exhaust system will help a LOT. Especially if it's straight through although that would be ridiculously loud.
A camshaft will also help massively, my old cammed 8v with a 1 box system used to backfire and rumble like a machinegun.
The more tuned your engine is, the more it will pop

haha
well as you can see from my sig my car is no where near that
my car is the rolling stone limited adition with the 1.6 engine in it (only made is as a 1.6) what cam shaft could be put in mine ? and what other mods could be done simple mods that is?
-
To be honest, as you'll hear a lot in the mk3 section, anything below the 2l 8v isn't worth tuning as you will gain very little and spend a lot, only to make it to the same base as an 8v, even then its not quick. You're better off saving up the pennies and eventually buying a more powerful model, either 16v or vr6 really, any other mk3 model will struggle to make power.
-
pecos just are not the best, and there is better out there, however a back box alone wont give you any power increase, its just the tone of the exhaust, better back boxes will give better tones without making it sound like a wasp in a baked bean tin

o right i get you :)
i mean i know i could have spent the money of a proper exhaust cat back and put a sports cat on and that but i just wanted to make it so it didnt look like i have put a clasic mini exhaust on the back of my car
when i have finaly done some engine mods to the car that will mean i have to put a sports exhaust and cat on i will change it till then it is keeping me happy just upsets the misses evan tho it is quite at idle realy only noisey when u give it a bootfull
