Title: Design your own VENTO"deep race grill"
Post by: mk3 tdi on 20 November 2010, 11:52
Well, I`ve wanted to face lift the front for a while now but couldn’t find anything I liked so decided to play with the spare grill to see what can be done,

It’s a two piece grill so had to take the reinforcement backing off the centre section,

Used a hacksaw to cut away the centre slots, care full not to break the centre badge circle as its now got no support,

Sanded down the ruff bits.

Put masking tape over the wedge shape cutouts and filled it with 2 layers of fiber glass.

Sanded the fiber glass down, using 80, 240, and 380 grades.

Used body filler to fill out the rough bits.

Again used different grades and more filler until it I had a smooth and good shape following the body lines.

Primered up and looking good!! Used filler primer first so can get ridd off the minor blemishes.
