Title: Haters
Post by: RedHP on 19 November 2010, 18:13
Ever since I brought home my new baby (MK6 GTi, Candy White, 18" Shadow Monza's), I've had all types of 'competition'. Obviously, I don't fall for their tricks, despite in the knowing that I could 'take' most of them.
But, it seems that as soon as they see my baby they want to 'try it on'.
I've had all sorts, from a 1.0l Corsa to Focus RS's. I'm too mature (old ) to even bother, plus I try to drive economically when possible !!

But, I have now branded them all as HATERS !

Once, on the motorway, I was in lane 3 and a Leon FR was in lane 2. He had plenty of room to jump into lane 3, but he waited to jump into lane 3 in front of me despite the samll gap, for which I had to brake hard. I mean, what is their problems...!?
I also had a W reg BMW 640 tailing me closely for 2 miles and also a 1 series convertible too.

Rant over !

Anyone else experiencing this?

I think that even 10 years ago when I was 22 and a bit of a boy racer, when I had a Pug 1.6 GTi, I wasn't as immature as some of the drivers I face on a daily basis, most of them are at least in their mid-40's. I mean i'm 32 and therefore should be more immature than most of these, but I really can't be bothered with it. Even with the silly ones that I know will 'lose' !!!

I think it was Craig David (yes, sing it...."Craaaiiigg Daaaavid") that said that in the states if you have a flashy car the other drivers say 'nice car' etc and praise you, but the mentallity in our country is for other drivers to call you a 'w*nker'. How true is that comment and the mindset here..?!!!

I remember once, I was in my Pug 1.6GTi at the lights, next to a new Scooby and I actually beeped at him to say 'nice ride'! Why can't other drivers simply be nice and gracious in realising a nice ride...?

Used to have it all the time in my RS4, I remember some twit in an Astra VCR (VXR) holding me back for ages on a dual carriageway, he looked genuinely shocked when the road opened up and I left him for dead.

Knobs the lot of them!

When dear Wolfgang is in a filthy (dirty) state, I am left well alone with no hope of being tooted, abused, cruised or admired by other drivers. Feels pretty lonely.
So, tomorrow he is going to have a spruce and shine at VW. He is still waiting to get laid. I think I'll have to wait to Bi-(Xenon) him and also protect him with new less slippery rubber before he can take the plunge. Boy to man is so traumatic!

Wolfgang needs more power, so stop mincing about and get on with it - me n poverty spec did just that, and now ol' poverty spec can hold that head up so high!!!! (Plus its such bloody good fun................her Ladyship is always saying that I have never grown up ---- well surely that's not a bad thing!!!)

Just let 'em go by and have their accident on someone else's bumper.

My favourite incident was about two weeks after I got my car, I'd spent some serious time polishing and laying down a protective coat and the car was gleaming. I was out a few hours later and this tool in a Vauxhall VXR pulls up next to me at the lights, stereo reverberating through every millimetre of his car's cheap finish and he starts revving his engine. Much to my wife's dismay, I responded and gunned my engine a bit to goad him. This is all he needs and starts revving the engine for all its worth. The lights change and he is off the line like a rocket.

At this point, I quietly indicated my turn and left him to get done in the 20 zone by the local school. I figure he probably hit 50 by the time he reached the speed camera. To me, that's what owning a GTI is about, you've got nothing to prove.

It is always Arsetras in exceptionally vile guise that need to prove their pathetic inferiority. I just look at them with utter contempt and disdain and smoothly and elegantly drive away. Those cars are really 'much ado about nothing'.

Don't get too much grief round here to be honest but my best one ever was a few weeks ago on the way home from work. Some idiot in a Toyota IQ (yes, one of those toy cars) had a go.
Now, I can't usually be a***d to respond but on this occasion I'm afraid I had to.
An IQ...I ask you!!!!!!

Alot of it has to do with the colour imo.
I have had this with alot of cars over the years as we have owned alot of hothatches and it depends on the colour if it attracts the idiots or not.
Having owned hot hatches since the late 80s i don't feel the need to race anyone or proove anything but alot of people who buy them do especially if they have not had one before or not many. The mk5 GTI in red or white in DSG spec seems to attract the speeding dangerous driver up here.

had this in a VXR a weeks ago. On a DC he was right up behind me so i dropped a grear (yes as in manually) then put pedal to the metal... i simply pulled from him. Got clear then moved into the left lane.

His mates were laughing at him and his jaw was dropped... priceless

He even pulled a u-turn at the next part of the DC as I dont think he was originally going that way. foolio

If they get that close then i usually push the go faster pedal and watch them go backwards, then they know its an S3
