Title: 2.0 8v what am i looking for
Post by: spacerat on 17 November 2010, 20:16
Im having a check over my boss's 2.0 gti tomorrow with a view to buy it.  Now before anyone starts, i had a 1.8t (the proper gti) in 2003 when it was only 3 years old and it was lovely, and quick enough ect ect, im only looking at this cos its cheap, v reg, 2.0 black 55k, 5 door,  is there anything i need to look for with these engines?  ive read they use a lot of oil and get through maf sensors is this true? and anything else to consider when looking over.
any advice welcome.
thanks in advance.

also im selling my mk2 8v if anyones interested.

Yes true they also eat lambda sensors for a pass time.

I would stick a code reader on it before you buy

well had a look at it today and im having it, drives nice and body work is spot on, only problem is its a 5 door but i cant see that from the front seat so ill try and get over it.  i only do about 5k a year in a car(summer is for motrbikes ) so i hopefully wont get through to many sensors, good bye mk2 section, hello mk4 section (again) 6th golf in 9 years lol love it
