Hi guys,
Just picked up a 2000 golf gti 1.8T. Really happy with it on the drive home 2 days ago. Interior is awesome with the recaros, exterior is spotless and it felt pretty nippy for 150bhp. Yesterday I went to start it in the morning and got a coolant warning. Checked the coolant and it wasnt full but it wasnt low neither. Came on here and did a search ond found common issues with the sensor. Ok, I can live with that but today the car has done the same and the coolant is almost empty and kinda bubbly. There is no oil in it though, and the oil has no water in it, there is also no white smoke from the exhaust so im a bit confused. Is it just a seal on the expansion tank? Also, the cars heaters didnt get hot after 15 mins, does this indicate HG issues? Any advice would be great...
Back onto the other stuff, I want to retro fit Cruise control into the car, easy job? Also heard you can program miles to empty into the trip computer?
Finally, anyone in manchester know of a good vw garage?
Cheers in advance...

Cruze control- I have never done it but assume with a little know how and a guide it couldn't be too hard?
Miles to empty- depends on the clocks, only cartain clocks can be programmed to show this.

car not getting warm could be a Thermostat or water pump issue. If you coolant level is dropping then would say you have a leak somewhere. Check the bottom right hand side of the radiator, looking down on the engine. there is a drainage plug, check to make sure it is closed off. Also check coolant hoses for damp patches

Awesomegti sell the cruise control kit.
Miles to empty i beleive you need immo3 clocks to program it in.

Welcome to Golf Ownership,
Unfortunately your car will be immo2 so miles to empty cant be programmed into it, You can however activate Alarm beeps & Anti hi-jacking,
Not too sure on the fault with the water but if you want to run a diagnostic scan on it im in Middleton & can connet it up to my Vagcom

Water pump? Impeller could be spinning on the shaft........

Ok this evening I have topped up the coolant and left stood for 6 hours, come out to check it and its almost empty which would suggest just a leak somewhere, and a pretty quick one at that so it should be noticeable. Is there any common area to check first?
Back to the alarm beeps and anti jacking, is this done via vag com, is it really easy?
