as title, where can I get these from I'm having real trouble finding some? people breaking wanna keep them and not sure how to get them from scrappies as there attached to the engines!
-
GSF?
-
I was under the impression these would be expensive new? I cant search online as I dont have a reg (its for a conversion), but the only thing I can get from the gsf website is a front bracket. might give ecp a ring in the morning
any idea how much they are new?
-
OK next question, how many do I need for a full set, is it 2 rear 1 front and 1 gearbox? So like I ask for rear left, rear right, front, and gearbox? sorry if it sounds retarded but I dont know!
-
Are they not the same as a 8v.
-
Apparently they are slightly different, I got this from rubjonny and been told the same by a couple others
the actual mounts on the car are the same physical shape on all models, vr6 are strongest so fit those. the front and rear brackets on the block again they need to be from mk3 or seat 16v or tdi. cant use vr6 engine one as block totally different shape. gearbox ones can come from abf, tdi or vr6.
you cant use 8v brackets as they're for cars without cable clutch, this is why you need abf/tsdi ones as they position the block a little differenty hope all that makes sence!

I am confused RJ is saying 8v is not cable clutch yet it is :undecided:

yeah I think he meant hydro :P we were having a chat about clutch cylinders before hand so maybe got a bit confusing :)
-
Not sure then, keep looking s/h is your best bet.

am I right in the amount I need though? 2 rear 1 front and 1 gearbox? I feel like a reatrd for not knowing this lol

I think it is 1 front and 1 rear plus the gearbox.

ok cheers again :) I think between you LL and RJ you're guiding me through 99% of my conversion!

doh i meant they're for cars without cable box :embarassed:
car with cable shift 02a box the engine sits slightly differently in the bay, so front and rear brackets slightly different shape. being a mk3 they have different front and rear engine mounts so you must use SEAT/MK3 abf or tdi ones. cant use vr6 engine mounts as engine totally different shape. actually i think some b4 passat brackets may work, iirc they use mk3 style engine mounts on the higher spec models?
gearbox mount bracket can be had off most cars with 02a, so any b3/4 passat or corrado, or mk3/seat abf, tdi, vr6.
