Title: Badgers Mystic Blue gti

hi again, heres my build up thread :)

when i brought it-
-1997 P reg mk3
-Mystic blue LC5L
-3 door
-2.0L 8v gti AGG engine
-completely standard :D

since ive owned it ive done-

-custom short shifter (gearbox side) and shortened gear shifter inside of car.
-tinted front fogs,reflectors and indicators
-full cambelt,service,distrubtor,plugs,cap and arm and leads replaced
-gutted the airbox
-replaced ignition switch,few switches and dash bulbs
-fitted remote central locking
-fitted alpine head unit with ipod connectivity and sub and amp in boot
-vr6 recaro front seats
-6n2 polo gearknob and gaitor
-stopped the common squeaky handbrake
-8k dipped beam hid kit
-amber front sidelights
-led brake light bulbs
-led front and rear indicator bulbs and relay to correct flash speed



things that need doing-

-windscreen needs replacing (cracked)
-rear wheel bearings
-alternator is whining
-front water flange is leaking
-passenger window regulator is dodgy
-passenger door is now dented thanks to some kind person




things planned for the future-

-banded steels or audi pepperpots
-drilled and grooved discs,pagid fast road pads all round
-stainless brake lines and removal of abs
-chequered mirror caps and fuel cap
-vento front end with us spec splitter
-coilovers
-eventually 1.8t conversion and 4motion running gear

Liking the car.  Good to see someone else who wants to fit banded steels to a mk3.  They're getting popular, but only ever see them on the same cars.

However,

-banded steels: very heavy and expensive,  audi pepperpots better choice but are ugly :smiley:
-stainless brake lines and removal of abs: Why remove the abs
-vento front end with us spec splitter: Been done to death
-coilovers: Pay more and get quality
-eventually 1.8t conversion and 4motion running gear: Yes the 1.8t is a good choice but pointless and a major ballache fitting the 4mo setup

They are heavy, but unless you go to a certain company they're very well priced.  £280 including the wheels seems fair to me...

Not really something to cut corners with to be honest, the quality needs to be top notch.

Safety before costs on items like this.

Absolutely, but word of mouth is a great thing.  The guy I use has done wheels on many cars I have personal experience with, including one of mine.  Top quality, but just doesn't overcharge.
