Well, Ive been off work for the past month or so resting :undecided: after having an operation. In this time Ive done a few things to the golf - and it feels loads faster now  The other day I thought to myself that it felt like a proper GTI all of a sudden. Basically, I have fitted a cat back exhaust, serviced it, cleaned the throttle body, modified the airbox and fitted a K&N panel filter and it feels like a completely different car. These are the first things that anyone wanting to increase performance in their 8v should do. Cheap and easy, thats what I like!
Had to make a thread cos Ive been slowly getting more impressed with it in the last couple of weeks, this mornings oil and filter change topped it off.

Indeed. Although on a long stay somewhere you've been to in numerous occasions you do get the odd day of boredom. Tomorrow I start my testing and practice sessions for the big race though!

When I read this section I expected to read further on that you had done an engine swap for an ABF/16v... the words '8v' and 'proper GTI' (in the mk3 at least) - don't go together!
