Title: Oi'l be damned
Post by: Purple Monster on 07 February 2005, 21:42
The valver wouldn't start the other day and assumed a bit of damp had got in, went to check sparkers and when I took out the lead from 2nd right plug the damn thing was an inch deep in oil!
Any suggestions as to what's caused this?
Cheers

having re-read this i see what your getting at. is the oil filler above where the sparkplug lead is? i would say someone was being messsy when they put oil in it.
it would not affect starting so could of been there since the last service. was it serviced by vw by any chance?

if the oil is dirty, change the rocker gasket as suggested by Gambit, if the oil is 'Clean' is propbably what carrie said...... had same on my old 16v, but that was just the rocker gasket...........changed and problem cured

yep if the oil is black/brown then rocker gasket it will be the little middle one that protects the sparks
if its clean oil then you need to srt your aim out mate lol
