Title: 2006 gti vibration under load.
Post by: dubvrs on 15 November 2010, 21:08
Hope one of you can help.

My friend had a mk5 golf gti 55 plate and said he is having a problem with vibration.

I have taken the car out and around town the car is fine with no problems. Take it on the motor way and all is fine until you put your foot down and there is a vibration through the steering wheel that stops when you take your foot off the throttle. Feels like an engine misfire but why would it shake the steering wheel like an out of balance wheel. We have had all the wheels balanced and changed them front to back with no change. Sometimes it's fine doing a steady 70 but if you take your foot off the throttle and re aply it the vibration is there.

I have searched but only found a forum in the states which sounded like the same thing but no answer to what he found.

Wheel bearing?  Bushes?  Engine mount?

Car only passed it's mot last week so i would of thought wheel bearings and bushes should of been checked. The rear lower mount is a little soft so going to try my bsh insert to see if it changes anything.
