Well still having what I think to be gearbox problems. There's a huge rattle when pulling away and rattle still there thru the gears. Rattle goes when u turn left. So thourt was driveshaft issue so driveshaft and wheel bearing where changed and rattle still there. Had a brand new clutch and been converted to solid mass. So that rules clutch out. Any ideas or its gettin torched.???
-
take it you changed the release bearing when doing the clutch? maybe also could be gear linkage bush worn
-
Yes hulmie was a Sachs 3 in 1 clutch. Been to three garages and they all say the gearbox. Bought a reconned box had it fitted and rattle still there had original box put bk in rattle still ther. Asked company to recondition the reconned box and refit. Still the same. I am sick
-
could it not be ur linkage??
-
Maybe but y wud the rattle go away on left lock lol
-
engine mount ??
-
Gonna check dogbone Tmra
-
I would say dogbone or gear linkage
-
think dog bone mount as mine looked nice on first glance but once took apart it was well on its way..
-
Have you looked at anything else like heat guards round the tunnelling or CAT, or the CAT itself? Thump the CAT and see if it rattles.
May be a silly suggestion, but just a thought.
-
did you check the centre pipe bracket on the exhaust like i said last time?
-
Flywheel? ;)
-
Been under car today and only thing I could see loose was under tray. Fixed that. Dogbone seems fine heat shields are ok. Can't be the flywheel because rattle was there even before I coverted to a solid mass.
-
Take dog bone off and split it apart they look ok but rubbers still might be bad.
-
also check the rubbers in the top engine mount on passenger side.
Another thing maybe worth checking is wishbone bushes if your on standard ones. Get someone to drive your car forward slowly and see if you notice vibration in the wheel.
-
Lol been to 2 more garages today and both said rattle is comin from gearbox / diff . I am sick of it :(
-
is the diff at fault? clutch, gears, flywheel etc my be fine.
-
You would think diff would be fine as its a totally reconned box. Going bk to place where I got box from tmra
-
are the driveshafts and cv joints ok?
-
Rattle goes away when left lock is applied. So I thourt driveshaft so I replaced it along with bearing. And still the same :undecided:

Hi, I have an idea what might be the rattle, although it sounds like gearbox any chance it could be chain tentioner for the cam shafts. i have herd this rattle before, and it sounds like gearbox as its directly above it.
And the reason it goes away on full lock could be the power steering pump underload, which inturn loads the engine which takes up any slack in can chain.
worth a look me thinks!

Hmm sounds expensive. Been bk to gearbox place today and they gave me a new reconned box. So that puts the box out the question lol
