Good evening ladies and gentleman.
I have decided I am definately going to get a US spec front bumper, but the only ones I have found on t'internet are body coloured ones. I don't really want to spray all the trim body colour on mine as I want to keep it looking like a GTi, so does anyone know of a way to get rid of the paint on the top section of the bumper and haev the textured pastic?
Is it a case of textured plastic underneath all of the paint and such? If so I guess I'll have to use paint stripper and such??
Any advice is much appreciated.

Nope, they are smooth underneath the paint, not sure how you could run a textured top or even if it would look right.

have to get a standard gti bumper and smooth it right over

Why not remove all the trim and go for the smooth look.

When I say the textured trim, I mean so it matches the rest of the car.

The problem would still remain with the textured plastic at the top, It has a recess in it too.

That is another option, but I really like the look of it with the trim. Don't really want to lose the GTi look.
Maybe a US spec front bumper just isn't the way to go if I want to keep the trim.
