Title: MFA Steering Wheel Buttons
Post by: blinkers on 14 November 2010, 18:25
Hi All

Does anyone know where you can get the MFA steering wheel buttons separately without buying a complete steering wheel. As my GTi is a 2009 car, it already pre wired so fitting won't be a problem.

Checked with my local steelers but they keep trying to sell me a complete wheel...I'm sure they come separate.

Thanks.....

When you talk about MFA do you mean the multi-function buttons?

If you have a DSG car, the steering wheel spokes are hollow, so you can swap them out. I've found two sets of part numbers:

3C0 959 537 B - left
3C0 959 538 C - right

1K0 959 537 J - left
1K0 959 538 F - right

You may need a steering wheel controller, slip ring and wiring, especially if you don't have the flappy paddles (doubt this since your car is 2009).

If you have a manual car, then the steering wheel spokes are solid and there is no space for the wiring or the buttons which means you need a new wheel.

Thanks stealthwolf,

Yep, the multiple function buttons. My car has the DSG with paddles and I've had the wheel off recently to check. It is all pre wired with the plugs going right up to the covers, so it's all pretty straight forward.

I know the early cars had different button configuration that's why there are 4 part numbers...

Do you know of any dealers stocking them or any other sources?

Thanks for the help.....

I think most people get them off ebay, especially the german one.

I've tried eBay.de but nothing comes up, but I'll keep trying...thanks for all your help! I'm gonna go to my stealers tomorrow and show them the part no. and see what comes up...hopefully they'll admit to the parts being separate and stop trying to flog me a new wheel...LOL!!

Cheers!!

Blinkers, just so you know, the later style of buttons had only one telephone button on the left hand set (the earlier ones like mine have 2) and a star button, and the right hand buttons have the menu button (horizontal lines) and a OK button.

Basically, the ones below (and in the ebay ad) are the later style ones.

If no one posts the P/N's in the meantime, give me till I'm at work tomorrow and I'll look them up on ETKA for you.

Right Blinkers, according to my version of ETKA, the part number should be:

1K0 959 537 J REH - (Left) - Multiple switch for Radio and Telephone remote control

1K0 959 538 F REH - (Right) - Multiple switch for Multi-function display.

Hence the name...Steelers!!

Hi Tech

Paid £65.00 for the set including the VAT. Not sure if that's a good price but that was the only price I could find without ordering the complete wheel.
