Would have thought it would not be wise to let your dub redline for one all the crap/silt from the bottom of the fuel tank starts to get sucked into your engine so it's not a good move. :undecided:

The Count's right and it doesn't do your cat any good either if you run out of fuel. I never let the Moo get below a quarter full. Never mind the debate about the light, get Mrs Brains down to that petrol station sharpish.

Ive never seeen a light for fuel come on , on most cars they come on as soon as you hit the red , if not a bit before .

Golfs don't have fuel lights.  VW obviously thought that the full to empty scale behind the needle and the bright red bit at the bottom was enough for people to realise it's getting empty.

cheers for that people,

explained to mrs brains last night about the whole idea of the fuel gauge, i even took her to fill the car and show her how to use the pump, she was left a little confused and dizzy with all the new information she had to take on board,

I hope you told her to use the green pump?

As she may prefer the red one
