What a day i have had today with VW Main W****ERS
Dropped off vehicle for major service, cambelt change, DSG service and engine flush, costing £700 pounds, picked up car at 6pm, drive home (4 miles) then decide to go out again and car clonks out after 1 mile, smell petrol, call breakdown, he first refuses to touch car after explaining i just had it serviced, begged him to at least look, turns the key, engine turns but does not start, thinks it the immobiliser, petrol smell gets stronger, pops open the bonnet, tells me to turn key, get petrol gushing out over the engine from a small tube/pipe, tells me the main dealers hadn't clipped it in back properly and i was lucky that it didn't blow up!
I have emailed the dealers, requesting to pick up the car and get the engine cleaned and i want compensation! shall see what the morning brings!
well LIVID!

I have had few problems with this dealership , My Ed30 came back with a dent in it, another time one there Tec's squred up to me over a cam belt issue that he had missed diagosed and you can imagine what happen next .
Get hold of the service manager ASAP this morning mate.

change of name but same service levels it seems
i have never come across a service department as rude and as incompetent as those clowns
avoid dovercourt/lookers or whatever they are called in battersea like the plague

I would not bother ringing the dealers you probably will get the run around
Ring VW UK and tell them what happened, ask them what to do....... They should get on to the dealers and sort it for you. You will be amazed at the difference in customer service levels once VW UK is involved.
Be polite to VW UK, tell them you love your car but have lost faith in the dealer. Tell them you lost time and money sorting yourcar out at the side of the road with a breakdown truck. I'll be shocked if you don't get some money back.
VW UK 0800 711 811
If you want any help PM me

I sent an email to the service manager on Friday morning 1am, has a call back 8am apologising etc.. they picked up the car about 10am and said they would have it fully checked out, cleaned and retuned by the evening, which happened.
I also got a call from the centre manager, who explained the tube was not put back on properly (clip) and he will be following up on disciplinary action on the guy that was responsible, i told him that it was up to them what they decided to do their end, i wanted to know what compensation they are offering for the negligence and headache they caused me, he is going to get back to me early next week.
I feel that a full refund is due, i have not told them this, but i am not accepting anything else! I feel sorry for the poor guy who was suppose to ensure the checks and maybe out of a job, i hope he does'nt lose his job....
You think that is fair what i am asking for or should i be happy with anything or more?
Thank you NYSOUL and everyone else for your input, i will see what they say next week before taking the matter further.
will keep you posted.

I had a call from the manager today, he is offering me £229 as compensation/refund...
I feel this is a kick the face, i spend £700 as said I would not settle for anything less, which he refused, I said I would seek legal advise & be in touch.
Should i now go through small claims court or speak with a solicitor? any input is appreciated.... :undecided:

Speak to your local Trading Standards office. Their advice is free and impartial

I hope you never make a mistake in your life mate!
Clearly an error, no harm done, engine cleaned and partial refund. - I don't understand the problem?

Mistakes cost....i was on the way to drop the car off to my 6 months pregnant wife... good thing it happened when it did...
I didn't take my car to some backyard garage to get this sort of service, i paid to whack for a job i could have got done elsewhere for half the rate, i went to these fatherless people so i get a quality service, which i have not got, the LEAST they can do it give me a full refund, if not more.
-
Okay. Good luck
-
I would be happy with there offer too, its not bad  take it and leave it that!
-
I agree its a fair offer, they are effectively refunding you the whole portion of work that a mistake was made on (ie the timing belt) but you've still got a new timing belt etc. Mistakes happen and it sounds like they have been quick and fair in their response. I'm guessing you won't be frequenting that establishment again and neither will a lot of folk reading this post so thats another punishment for them.
-
I hear what you say, I guess now i have calmed down and can think straight, i may accept their offer, I have written to the guy, see what he says...
I doubt very much i go back to them again, but something for that 'stamp' i may need to.. only time will tell...

Different garage same thing didnt clip fuel pipe on properly car sat down, got garage recovery out sorted it , next morning garage washed down engine and put £20 diesel in , I wasnt happy but had no choice but to accept this .
Dont use the garage unless I really have to and they know it .

I use Battersea and have done for 5 yrs. For me its about having a good relationship with the dealer if you've got this going with the dealer then your car will be taken care of IMO
Yes there not the best, but I have called a lot of faver's over the years and been looked after.
-
The problem rectified and £229 compensation seems fair to me tbo.
I work not far from Battersea lookers and have had a couple of car services carried there on my old mk5 GT and found them o.k.
But I won't be taking my Mk6 following the above reports.
