Title: Booked In For Stage 2 Tomorrow * now done *
Post by: KennyGTI on 11 November 2010, 14:15
Booked into PD Tuning tomorrow at 12:30 for stage 2. Wee bit of a treck (2hrs ish) drive but all the REVO dealers here are too busy etc etc. Guy was very helpful on the phone, will get the car on the rolling road etc make sure its running correctly and tweak the map to suit so sounds good!

Will let you all know results and thoughts tomorrow!

He won't be able to tweak the map as the stage 2 is the same as stage 1 in that you only have predefined programs (i.e. Stock, 95, 98).

Will be interested to hear what you think Kenny

Not sure if he was talking about the B,f,t adjustments. See what happens tomorrow, will make sure its the 97 Ron map though this time!

When you fitting your IC Steve? I love mine, pulls much harder through the revs plus it has stopped all the on off boost issues i was having? Not sure if thats down to the small pressure drop from have and additional IC?

Well been a long day. 3 1/2 hour drive 196 miles to Newcastle then back has left me very tired! Very impressed with stage 1 results with my mods and stage two. Got pics etc and print outs of dyno results to post so will do in the morning as I am just heading to bed! Driving long distances takes it out you, don't know how lorry drivers etc can do it day in and day out!

Hi Kenny.
Can't wait to see the results.
Nearly there with the Bi-Xenons! Just waiting for Steve to do his first. A good dry run.
Good night.

Cant wait to see the results and whats involved in the fitment Asker!

Snoopy, I read on the internet that PD Tuning had some bad reviews etc etc bt I can not fault the guys work! Very intelligent guy, was saying he makes maps up for other companies aswell which is good to hear.

Anyway, got the car on the dyno, set it all up and done some runs with the stage 1 95 Ron with my mods (Carbonio Intake, 3" Turbo Back Exhaust, Forge I.C). i was expecting around 265 - 270 bhp waswas very suprised with 283.5bhp and 325 lb/ft! This is what I was expecting with stage 2!

So on with the stage 2 97 Ron map, with a few tweeks with the SPS controller and a few runs we got a nice 298.3 bhp with just over 360lb/ft or torque!!!  If you look at the graph with the difference between stage 1 and 2 at 4000 revs there is a nice increase in mid range.

Car pulls like a train now! I am over the moon, no more on off boost issues, just so much stronger mid range, like its on steriods lol!

I wonder how much he normally charges for a rolling road run to see what a standard one shows on his rollers

300bhp

An Ed30 at stage 2 barely makes that!!.

The torque curves doesnt look smooth at all  :undecided:

Did they strap the car down well enough?......

Why the hell are they running it in 3rd gear!!!, thats wheel spin thats causing your rough looking torque curve.

having wheel spin on the rollers wont give you a clear indicator on what your car is producing.

That doesn't look like wheelspin to me, just a low graph filter setting on the dyno software.

fantastic result there Kenny!!!

the graphs generally follow a smooth line but there are little bumps along each of them so it could be a few things. That fan they have is almost a joke though.. i could fart more air!!

think i may hold out for the Golf R when it has the new TSI engine :lipsrsealed:
