Found these rare Recaro seats on eBAY but does anyone know if they fit straight into a MK6 or would they need a bit of modifying.

at that price who cares

+1
Plus they look a little worn.
However looking at them gave me an idea. Imagine keeping the shell and the leather bolsters and putting the GTI tartan into the central seat sections (ed 30 style).
Then you would have some proper limited edition and sexy IMO seats.

Me, that's why I asked if that's ok with you.
I'd love some Recaro bucket seats in my GTI.
-
sorry for being a bit harsh but IMO no other seats are better than your original gti seats let alone some over priced used leather recaros.
soz.

No problem, only asked as seen some in a new Golf R .
There's another set on eBay for even more(£2200)

very nice seats. these are offered as an option on the R... so imo wouldnt look out of place. MK5 GTI's with these seats have cost a premium over the std leather.

Sorry sundaydriver, but [imo] those seats are ugly and will not suit a MK6 GTI; why on earth would you want to ruin your GTI by putting them into it? Save your money and keep your car interior original.
-
I think they are nice
If thats what you want to spend your money then go for it! I would rather spend on preformance mods :lipsrsealed:
-
No need to apologise RickS, everyone has an opinion, even you!
Bit like marmite you either love them or hate them.
P.s RickS is my grammer correct for you today??

Cheers Kenny, that's right .
Seen them in the flesh and I think they look great.

If you think it's correct then that's gud enuff for me

Horses for courses IMHO, I love them. At the end of the day you spend most of the time in the car, why not make it the best place to be.
Might look a bit weird with the cloth door cards though, that would be my only gripe.

To answer the original question. Yes
but the side airbag control units in the mk6 maybe an issue and need bypassing.
Also do they not have a big R symbal on the top of the front seats or was that just on early ones.
I nearly bought the buckets as an option when we got our mk5 GTI.

Thanks Snoopy, didn't think I was ever going to get an answer to the original question.
Cheers

Hi Sunday.
As Snoops says they will fit.
But why would you want to ruin the unique internal beauty of the GTi with a bit of used cow even if they be Recaros?
Get some Bi-Xenons, chip your car, get an Ed30 knob and you'll still end up with change.
On the other hand, yours will possibly be the only GTi with old second-hand R32 internals. Unique it will definitely be.
I think you should go for these chairs.
-
Wise advice am1w, thanks
-
Keep an eye on mk5 forums as the recaro front chairs come up every so often. You could do what RedRobin did to his mk5 ones when he bought R32 versions and have them retrimmed to match the rears.
The recaros were not that expensive an option when new on the mk5 GTI (~£600 iirc) and were only offered for a short time but they fetch good money now. You can spec them for the mk6 R but there something stupid like £3k option but they come in leather or half leather/alcantara. Heres a link to a new R with some in to give people an idea of what they will look like in the mk6 http://www.rforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=617.0 and http://www.rforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=466.0 + http://www.rforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=602.0

Imho they are a bit overkill if you see what i mean? A bit big, but ETTO, if you like em sunday then buy em mate!
-
Ment to post a link to robins thread. There is a few threads by him over there about the seats as well as on tyresmoke and a couple of other forums.

All that high backed black leather. Ooooh! Very CEO office. Quite claustrophobic IMO especially for an old dear like me. Hope he has them heated. A massage function would also be a boon!

Wierd i still can't believe im the only one that like's them.

I don't rate leather in a Golf GTi as I feel that the Jacara interior is unusually and extraordinarily beautiful. I was going to order leather but felt it made the interior look dark and ordinary. The leather was also awful.
Every car magazine feels very positive about the Jacara cloth, preferring it to leather.
'40,000 Frenchman can't be wrong'.

Your not

Sunday, if you want leather then get it. The price is very good for leather Recaros.
I'm called the Blingmeister by 'small (gear) knob Ess_Three' due to 5 Aluminium pedals and a substantial and beautiful Ed30 knob. Am I bothered?
-
Don't get me wrong, the seats themselves are awesome! But i just think the size and shape are more Audi A4/A6. Just my 2p. Would be interesting to see a pair in a GTI with the middle part trimmed with jacara cloth though. I'm sold, DO IT SUNDAY!!!!
-
They are nice seats but the standard seats are plenty good enough and I love the retro check pattern on the GTI cloth trim. If you like them that much go for them. Just bear in mend if you do use rear seats a lot of the space in the rear will be taken up due to the shape of these.

Hi Sunday. Don't know your name or where Smogland is? Why so secretive?
Anyway, if you can get those Recaros in leather at a good price and if the leather on them is still tight and not shiny, you should seriously consider it.
But just to be a devils advocate, you can have your whole interior leathered (including your headling, door cards, centre armrest etc) in the colour of your choice for £1400. The leather will also be of a better quality than the VW one.
-
What about half leather :smug:
-
What about half leather :smug:
This would be even more preferable IMO for both comfort and looks.
-
What about half leather :smug:
Maybe, only looked at these as to be honest as my interior isnt wearing too well. Only 7000 miles (mainly sunday driving ) and already a little wear on the drivers seat bolster. Also the cloth on the door card looks poor.

No not being secretive, Snoopy will know where smogland is as it's only down the road from him. :smug:

Now I see why you are looking at the leather option. Understandable.
So far, my seats seem ok. I was worried about this too, initially.
The cloth on the door card gets a bit mucky. I have found a damp cloth brings it back to as-new.
-
My seats are not wearing to well either  as i have shown in bolter ware posts before. So i unerstand why your looking at these seats.
