any1 know where i can get those tiny speakers that are in the top of the dash
i want better ones as when i turn sound up they crackle
and i have got new door speakers and not got round to rear speakers yet
so sound is just in the front
-
I just bought a set of components for my MK2 and put the tweeters ion the top of the dash with custom mountings.
-
where from I am after some
-
what the speakers or moutings?
-
speakers
-
both

I bought my speakers from ICE Direct in Peterborough, they are 6.5" so i bought some audioscape door pods to house them then i just made up some mountings for the tweeters which i put in the dash. i did this by removing the old dash speaker, turning it upside down and drawing round to get the perfect fit. I cut the mounts from 5mm MDF and they were a great fit and the grilles went back on over the top no problem. hope this helps

you can fit a tiny 3 1/2" speaker in the dash, but it's pointless when you can put a tweeter from a component set in there and have a lot better sound overall. forget rear speakers. how often do you sit back there
Sub off amp and 13/17cm's off the headunit sound really good.
-
id personally run eveything off amps as the HU internal amp is very weak, just make sure you dont scrimp on cables!!!
-
well yeah if you can afford it. I plan to use my ST100 to run the front speakers and get a larger probably dual mono amp to run a better 10" in a proper enclosure one day.

at the moment i have a Kicker 654i running 2 sets of Mb Quart 6.5" components in the front doors with a Vibe VP4 running at 1 ohm to give my 4 DBAudio subs 300RMS each. like you say tho you only do it if you can afford it. its also best to go in stages like gets the components first and run them from the head unit, then maybe get a 4 chan amp and use 2 for the components. you can always get a sub for the other 2 spare channels later. saves paying out all in one go
