Right, is there a few types of Windscreen on the MK2, cos at night just about every car dazzles me which obv does my tits in. Just wondering if there is meant to be a tinted screen or something because it seems like in the past some gypo has put the wrong screen in or something.
Thanks in Advance Kids, Much love, sam

What do you clean the screen with? Waxes and polishes can cause dazzling.
-
dunno whether you smoke mate but nicotene can coat the inside of screen and cause glare, if you dont, give both inside and out a clean with glass cleaner and paper towels and see how that is
-
Use an old fashioned Chamois with warm water & a capful Malt vinegar to clean the inside of your windscreen...
-
clay the outside of your window too, going to do it myself when its ready!
-
Cool cool, so we are all just thinking that the window just needs a fudgin good clean inside and out?
-
Yep and your glasses if you wear 'em
-
if all else fails tint the windscreen!
-
I have this problem, got my eyes tested and I have something that makes me suseptable to glare, not bad sight though. Got some gigs with a greeny sort of tint to them that reduces it a hell of a lot
-
Hmm, i dont think its that, i dont get it in my dads car or any other cars that i drive, just my golf
-
Get some damage in it and get it replaced on your insurance.
20 year old screens ain't good to look through.
-
Brilliant idea dh, shame its on a public forum
-
who's going to know?

I can't stop my f*cking wife getting our Passat's screen damaged and I've not mentioned that on a sodding forum.

Is the car lowered much? I find a huge glare differnece between driving my old hilux and the golf. Even when the approaching car is on dipped beam, if your low enough its still bright!
-
Nothing stupid, wheels are just in the arches :undecided: my astra van that i had before was lower i think at that was a rite beast at night
-
you could just man up and deal with it
just a suggestion

What? Drive into corners half blind potentially killing people/myself/the car? Good idea

Have you tried some proper window cleaner and use news papers to wipe it with?
The ink some how stops the smear on the glass that causes the sparklers effect on headlights from other cars?
-
Road rash and micro scratching from windscreen wipers can defract the light coming into the car while driving at night, causing you to fall off the road, and blend in with the scenery..
Answer, fit a new screen, you wont believe the difference

You're referring to the carbon, as used on lens-pens and the like.

TBH not sure how it all works, but mother dearest has done this since we were kids and yeah no smears?

Modern cars headlights are too bright, fact. I can barely see anything at night when cars are coming at me, just have to focus on the kerb and try and stick with it. Range rovers are the worst .. xenons and the like should be banned imho, what's the point in lighting the road up like daytime if oncoming cars might crash into you because of it

I thought that, it's either the fact that my car is lowered, or where the screen is so old, all the imperfections in it are causing the light to spread and glare. It's really annoying

Same here, its defo more dangerous in older cars! i have the same issue in my mk2..
Might try rubbing newspaper all of it as clipper suggests :nerd:
