07 plate on 45k going in for service later this week, the following is being carried out:
major service: 229
Cambelt: 299
DSG oil service 150
Engine flush 35
Also, the car was showing 2k till service, then 1800 till service, then suddenly just showed 'service due now' .. should i be worried?
Just wanted to know if there is anything 'extra' i should ask for etc? or if i am missing something?
the car has had 2 minor services in the past and was on the long life service, i want to bring it to the yearly one as i drive the car in built up London!

£713.00 is a bit on the steep side  any good local indi garages close by that could do it cheaper ?.
-
tell me about it, i tried a few local (ish) indy garages, they quoted me in excess of 400 just for the cambelt, thought this way at least i get the stamp and then if decide to sell it, its all there on paper... you reckon the dsg needs a service at 40k? or this just a way to make some extra cash for the stealers?

i don't like owing money, if i got it, i spend it... don't have any cc cards, learnt my lesson when i was 16, signed up for a mbna mercedes card at the motor show in earls court just to get the lovely mercedes pen, only later to find out they'd sent me a cc card in the post with 1k limit... went spending and learnt my lesson the hard way, try and stay clear from credit! only have the one big mortgage i owe and thats it!
appreciate all the advise you and others have given me on the forums.. priceless just like mastercard!

Mine is due another service just now, gonna be a major one too. I had the cambelt done last year but when I asked how much it would be and what was included they told me. Cost will be £229 and they change the oil and any filters that need doing (this probably means they inspect them then don't change any of them) there was no mention of spark plug change, needless to say I will be asking for the old ones back if they do come to change them. Oh and they are good enough to do a full inspection wow so you can tell me lots of other stuff you think needs doing but doesn't. At least this will be the last service before I sell next year.

Dropped off vehicle for major service, cambelt change, DSG service and engine flush, costing £700 pounds, picked up car at 6pm, drive home (4 miles) then decide to go out again and car clonks out after 1 mile, smell petrol, call breakdown, he first refuses to touch car after explaining i just had it serviced, begged him to at least look, turns the key, engine turns but does not start, thinks it the immobiliser, petrol smell gets stronger, pops open the bonnet, tells me to turn key, gets petrol gushing out over the engine from a small tube/pipe, tells me the main dealers hadn't clipped it in back properly and i was lucky that it didn't blow up!
I have emailed the dealers, requesting to pick up the car and get the engine cleaned and i want compensation! shall see what the morning brings!
well LIVID! angry

Same thing happened to me with my mk4, but it wasn't a main stealer. They put the fuel lines in the wrong way so when the engine was returning fuel to the fuel tank it was actually pissing out the overflow. Stripped the laquer of the paint. Didn't realise what was going on until i got home and there was a big puddle of petrol spreading around the car. I made a hasty retreat!
bastards.
