Title: ebay dealer warning!
Post by: shikta000 on 08 November 2010, 15:11
hello guys ... i've had a horrendous experience with a dealer on ebay by the name of ' maddogadi ' ( yeah the name should have been a warning) ... i bought a gearbox from him for £95 plus delivery. i obviously asked many q's before the end of auction, he assured me he'd driven the donor car, 110,000 miles, no rattles, crunching, very smooth gearchange were his response to my q's ... the gearbox that arrived was not the one in the add, was put in by don of loughborough jnc, brixton ( 20 plus years on golfs), first try and it sounded not good , noisy, crunching gearchange, it was only driven a few hindred metres and kapputt! now my car is waiting for a recon, i'm out of pocket so far £240, on the case with ebay for a refund from this guy who refuses now to answer any reasonable requests for a refund. another lesson learned from me i think

Sounds eerily familiar to a guy I've had dealings with previously.

there's some mad dog VW shop thingy that a number of morons are associated with.  The only thing they seem capable of is ripping people off.

Got the link to the add?

Leave a scathing feedback and report him to ebay. It is probably the most you can do unfortunately.

i did try that civilised route .. if he'd sorted out the problem and refunded me i'd be cool with that, not responding says it all to me. i've learnt a lesson i reckon.

That's the easiest route for getting all your money back, regardless of it not working.

Hi there

I have also had many dealings with this guy and has always been really helpful, I have a funny feeling that he genuinely did not realise there was anything wrong with this part and you have been unlucky, as said above, huge feedback numbers on eBay...

so ... ebay refunded me my cash, as i said before i know this dealer has good feedback hence i thought i could trust him, and yes i reckon he honestly messed up perhaps just this once, a sorry and a refund would have placated me. time for a refurb gearbox in the old girl i think.
