Yesterday i fitted a Blue Neon dust cap set, looks the business, but today after braking hard for some twit who pulled in front of my chavalier my ABS light came on i hope its just a sensor not able to see very much when looking underneath but the car seemed to brake well "no locking up or skidding" when i tested it on the rest of the way home.
Have had a look at the ABS pump it felt quite hot would this be normal?
Anyways gonna find a straight road in the morning an do a brake test again then im rag off the wheels and check the sensors to see if thet are just dirty,i hope to fook its not the pump as i will be one stella less as well as a rather chavved count.

Uh! that sounds weird even for you Count!
But seriously - if ABS light is on indicating the system is not working, then why lock up a rear? First to lock is always a front, coz they are more powerful than the rears!
Sounds like a symptom of a more radical problem to me.
And yes if the pump is warm then its working!

O F**kin dear i hope its not worse or i might just get rid .But thanks anyway len..
Yeah only the right rear locked up when testing, took it off this morning nothing obvious wrong so just have to wait and see could be anything, i suppose car is 6 yrs old and things now starting to go wrong so im not really that suprised, more suprised is gonna be my credit card...

Oh dear
Always liked the idea of ABS as the brakes on my MK2 are poor(ish) but as usaul they're just another thing to go wrong and hit you in the pocket
Only cheap answer I can think of is to take out the ABS warning light bulb and sell it on.
Seriously though best get it in and have it checked. Best play it safe with brakes.
-
Can't beleive that forum members on here [this isnt just a rant at you piggy] advocate taking the bulb out and selling the car , then sympathyse with the poor b****r who buys one without the bulb in .
If you sell a GTI then by the laws of averages that person may well become a new member of this site.
If its broke get it fixed , next time it might be you that gets stung like this.

The rear may be locking up because on later models, no rear brake pressure regulator is fitted, it is controlled by the ABS system.
