Title: Fitting new rear parcel shelf support
Post by: moby dick on 07 November 2010, 15:16
I have picked up a replacement rear parcel shelf support but I'm not sure how to remove and refit the rear seat belt. Any advice warmly welcomed.

If you mean the shelf with to straps its simple pull towards you the two supports will pull free no seatbelt needs removing. If you mean the two speaker shelves then you need to remove three bolts. One under the shelf one at the top and last near the seat base.
Just remember to torq up the bolts well its a seatbelt at the end of the day

Another tip, before you undo the bolt that holds the reel on, pull the belt out fully and put a clamp on it to stop it winding back in. Mole grips and a rag will do.

The belt will only pull out of the reel when it is set at the angle it is fitted into the car at. Having plenty of slack makes it easier to re-fit.

dont need to undo the belt reel from car, just the bolt right at other end next to seat base and the one holding it to the c pillar. belt pulls thru the shelf support, swap over and bolt back together

I had to because the bloody seat belt would not free up enough so I took all three off to get the whole thing loose enough to correct it.
