Hi there. Thought id join this forum as i've just bought myself a 2.0 GTI and need some help. You all sound very helpful!
Basically i bought the car a few weeks ago, no problems until now....
The car is very tappety. Did an oil change with an engine flush, standard 10w40 oil.
Did the trick for about 30 minutes. This led me to believe the oil pick up pipe is blocked, I think!
Does anyone know how i take the sump off, the bloody subfame is in the way!
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers!

Hi, thanks for the replies. Yes, the mk4 gti. I went to the main dealer saturday and picked up a pick up pipe for under a tenner, i'll probs be doing the job thursday. If that doesnt cure it im stumped!

Drop the subframe mate, but if there's a centre bar in the subframe in the way it should be able to be removed. It should be simple is it mk3?
-
Nah its the mk4 mate. The tappings got worse, i think it could actually be tappets now. Seems alot worse when cold, and the tapping quietens when reving. I wanna know what it is, dont wanna pay stupid amounts of cash to get someone to look at it!

LOL, sorted the problem today, was about to do the oil pick up and i thought to myself.... lets just check the pullys on the cam belt. I took the cover off, and there you have it, the bolt was hangin out, literally 3/4 of the way out. The banging was the bolt hitting against the cover. So i saved myself alot of time and money today! Im from Bristol btw :)
Gunna spend the money i saved on an r32 bumper and induction!
