Hi All, Ive got a 99 115Tdi 6 speed (which has been mapped to 150Bhp). I am getting what can only be described as a rattle/rumble noise at idle. When I take up the bite on the clutch it goes away. I am quite certain its the dreaded flywheel problem but can anyone confirm that this noise, is what happens when the DM flywheel does start to fail ?
Also what options are there, I think the following :
New DM flywheel and clutch = expensive option
G60 flywheel and VR6 clutch will this fit a six speed box ?
conversion kit of ebay ? anyone purchased one of these and if so how well do they work ?
Many thanks in advance

Does sound like it I'm afraid
Though mine rattled for about 20K after a new one was fitted and it was ok :undecided:
VR6 is for 5 speed boxes only sadly and won't really take the abuse of torque the TDI's chuck at them

I had this recently, I sourced myself a lower millage gearbox aswell as mine wasnt to great. Anyways, got the gearbox fitted, put a new sach's clutch in aswell and a new release bearing. The dm flywheel has some play in though but needed car back asap so have let it run at the mo, vw qouted me somehting stupid like £700 for a flywheel but you can get LUK ones on ebay for under £300 so will get a new one within the next 6 months.
