i have a mk 5 gti whats the widest tyres i can fit on 18x8j rims , i would like 245x40 or 245x35 , what tyres do you think,
-
Don't think they will fit without rubbing to be honest.
225/40 is the best choice.
-
american forum has a table of wheel and tire fitments for mk 5 , says 245 x35 on 18 x8j with et of greater than 40 plus , dont know how reliable it is , so will do more research , any one out there know anything different
-
Why do you want tyres that wide, they will mess up gearing and speedo.
-
just like wide wheels , always have , anyway had a wee look under the arches there , i have 18x8 with 225 x40 on at the moment and theres not a mission of putting anything wider on theres about a 10mm gap between the tyres and suspension wouldnt risk wider , . , theres very little room to manover with mk 5 , dont know where other boyo got his info from , yes i agree will mess up gearing and speedo , need 2 front tyres so will put money into 2 pilot sport 3 instead, had goodyear f1 on but didnt like them goin back to mich,s

If you like wide wheels, get wide rims and stretched tyres.
Down and out.
