Hi
Have been shopping around for a deal on a new Golf GTD. The dealers seem to be offering between 3 and 5% discount but i found a company called orange wheels who seem to offer approx 10% off list price and the car is bought direct from a UK dealer. they seem good, has anyone used them before?
Looks like they just search all the delaers to get the best price and you don't actually buy from them but the deposit goes straight to the dealer.

There are loads of those types of brokers.
Have a look at these:

Hi Ferris how are you, I haven't seen you since the 80's ( sorry I couldn't resist )

Thanks for that.
So basically, if a dealer isn't willing to budge on price, you might as well use a broker like one of the ones listed?
-
Love the ferris pic, yes, that's where i got the name from!!
-
Most of the vw enquiries go to Dane vw in Chester, think one of the guys who ordered a gti recently used them.
-
lots of brokers source cars from around the eu. So you will only get 2yrs warranty rather than 3yrs.. just so you know :nerd:
-
Due to the exchange rate thats not as common as it use to be. Most just source them from the fleet side of a dealership. Its how mine was around this discount level.
-
Yes all the brokers i looked at said they source from UK dealerships, just the same as if you'd bought directly from the dealership.
I think maybe the thing to do is print off the price and then go into your local dealer and say 'beat that'!
-
It won't happen imo as the price is from the fleet side rather than the retail side. I tried this at many places and non would get anywere near the fleet price. You maybe luckie if you find one that needs to meet a target but i will be suprised.

+1
dealers were around double the price (lease) that fleet could offer.

Being honest if you came into the dealership I work at and a very high percentage of others they would politely tell you where to go, which is back onto that website and order through them. In almost every case in order to sell our retail allocation we don't need to give anywhere near 10% off as that in some cases makes them cheaper than used cars out there.......... Fleet on the other hand don't really care what they sell a car at had a customer who was offered 11% off a scirocco r at another dealer through fleet? Madness. The exception really is if you have a very nice px we know we will make £1500-£2000 on to balance the over all deal back in our favour, or if it's on pcp which vw target dealers heavily on.
Are you specific on your car? As might be able to help you find a car ok you probably won't get anywhere near 10% off but you will get more for your px now rather than 5/6 months time......

Is there a downside of getting a fleet car then? Why would anyone pay a retail price when you can pay a fleet price??
-
Only downside I can see that others have mentioned before is that the supplying dealer might be a few hundred miles away. Which shouldn't be an issue as you can take it to any dealer for warranty work.
However going to your local dealer that didn't supply the car may not be as beneficial as taking it to the supplying dealer when issues arise that might not be covered by warranty.

yes fair point that. i think i'd stil prefer the decent initial discount which 'should' outweigh any potential farce on the car which isn't covered on the warranty.
-
Yes initial discount great...........relationship with local dealer down the pan, future service from them probably compromised. By the sounds of it you have made the decision so why not just order the car? If it is on a PCP then they would be more likely to match it. Have you got a VW to px?
-
Nothing to part ex. Had an S3 but it got stolen 3 months ago so driving around in a 12 year old BMW 540i!! Just waiting on the insurance money and them i'm ready to buy. (when i say buy, i mean put a deposit down and look for a good finance deal!)
My wife is also after a Golf, but a 1.6 TDI SE (or match) on a 10 plate. She has got a car to PX, a mercedes A Class.

when your local dealership is Leeds, you dont get any of that. You will be lucky to have sales staff return a call let alone sell you a car. I do give them a chance though.. almost everytime. Bought 4 Golfs now, VW Leeds have had the first offer of my custom and fallen flat on their face everytime.
not tarnishing all dealerships with the same brush, but 99% of the time they dont have a clue. Maybe its because 99% of their customers dont know what they want and take their words as gospel. However for me, I doubt my next car will be a golf... unless its a R

Personally I would order both new, prices of used golf match's are well up there not far from what you might be able to get a new one for, ok you might have to wait a few months but there is some new ones around or coming through I should say. Also better rate on VW solutions for new cars and three years free servicing aswell as higher guaranteed future value means a new one would almost ceratinly come out cheaper than a used one.

Certainly the prices of the GTD are coming out cheaper through a broker than a 6 month old one ( isuppose the pay off like you say is the few month wait).
The TDI 1.6 is about 2k more than a 6 month old one which i suppose isn#'t too bad.
Maybe if i did try and buy both i might get an ever better deal?
if you buy through a broker like Orange Wheels which is basically through a dealer on the fleet side can you still get a good finance deal?
-
The cars are still eligable for the campaigns if registered to a retail customer so yes you should be able to get them...................providing they offer it.

Any idea what sort of fionance deals are out there? I know my father in law recently got a new EOS and put half down, with the rest on interest free credit over 3 years but if a lesser deposit was put down are there still good APRs to be had?
-
With 10% off a new golf match 1.6 tdi with metallic paint I make it £17,577 on the road out of the box.
Cheapest used on on VW used locator nationally is £16,985.00 mmmmmm I know which one would work out cheaper. Ok you might have to wait for both cars but VAT is protected if you order it by the end of this month anyway. Downside is you are going to get a pretty low trade in price for your px's as there is none left in the new cars to add to your px...........
Now you are talking about buying two cars from the same place both on VW solutions now that is more attractive................to me anyway.

On golf the best you are going to get is 7.9% apr typical on VW solutions / PCP. That deal on eos is only on because it is available on all the run out models. Passat, jetta, beetle, Eos. If they offered 0% on golf when you cars arrives then you could take advantage of it, but I would bet alot of money that it wont be on.

I will send you some quotes for some senarios.

I ordered my GTD through orange wheels because my local dealer didn't want to know! think I got about 8/9% off in the end, had to go and pick it up from VW Oldham in Manchester, I live in Norwich so bit of a trek but well worth it! No problems with local dealer what so ever has already bin in for some warranty work and had no probs with them!
