had some on my previous car(corsa), very difficult to see on roads with no street lighting in town is pretty good. I went back to standard bulbs after a few months. If you decide to buy try www.ultraleds.co.uk
hope this helps

If you're going to do it make sure you take out the green filter in the white bulb housing at the top of the clocks. You might find it still isn't bright enough though.
Mine is pretty good, next plan is to paint the needles with UV paint and fit a couple of UV LEDs in there.

Don't get them off ebay (rip off)
See this thread - http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=15629.0
the 2 led lights cost me something like ?5.60 delivered
All the info is there! I did this about 3 weeks back, make sure you do put a filter of the appropriate colour on though, i left it off and the light does not hit the bottom of the dash too well!
Go for white and use a frosted clear plastic from a folder, or whatever!

LEDs work better with some kind of defusion as deefadog says, even sanding down the LED glass makes a big difference to the light spread! I used ultrabright LEDs from http://www.ultraleds.com.
Only problem is the MFA/digital Clock bulb, an LED cannot produce a wide enough light pattern for the display to be lit up so I had to stick with the stock bulb. The only way round this is to take the clocks apart and modify the clear plastic light defuser, the best way is to drill a couple of holes and slot 2 leds into em. Does the trick!

Thanks guys - guess I wont be using them - close call. Andy
