Title: Rocker Cover leaking oil into plug holes
Post by: Primus84 on 30 October 2010, 12:32
Had the GTI serviced today and got an advisory from the VW Indie I used regarding oil leaking from the rocker cover into the plug holes.

He's estimating £40 to repair if he can do it without removing the cambelt and £100 if the cambelt needs to be off to do it.

First off is this something that needs putting right ASAP?

Second are these prices right? Is it likely to need the cambelt off?

All info gratefully received!

yea it could do if the cover wont clear the cam gear it should do though. its not very often i have to remove the belt to get a cover off. iv had a diesel one off on a golf and it came off without removeing the belt

I would get  it done. Not good if the oil gets on to the cam belt at some point.
