I have just got my vag com lead and software disc offa ebay and it has loaded fine i have gone into setting to change the port and it still dont reconise the cable any ideas please

??????

go into device manager and check the virtual com port number. if its higher than 4 you'll have to go into the properties and change it for a lower number, and if the lower numbers are taken you'll have to change one of the other ports to a higher number first to clear it, then change the vagcom cable to the lower number.  does that make any sence at all?

Now i got it to reconise the cable (com 3) it will not reconise the fookin car when conected???

what car is it? the ones floating around ebay at the moment often struggle with pre 2001 cars

i take it you have the ingition switched on when you're trying it, and the led on the port lights up when plugged in?

you prob got the tenner one, you need it with the interface built in, mate had same prob

I got one for a tenner off ebay and it works fine on my 92 gti, try using port com 1 as that's the only one which works with my car (you will need to change it on device manager).
