Aftermarket cruise control for 2010 Passat CC, Eos and Scirocco, and 2011 Golf
1038-10
Technical difficulties mean we are currently unable to provide a release date for aftermarket cruise control for 2010 model year Passat CC, Scirocco and Eos, and 2011 Golf models. Please ensure customers are advised accordingly.
The Factory is committed to developing a solution, and we’ll update you with more information about this as soon as we have it.
Be warned if you are thinking of not ordering it from factory and then retro fitting for cheaper.........

Ooops didnt read further down.........

Dealer fitted one to my car last week. Claims that it was a problem because VW wouldn't release a code initially, but they did and it works fine. Not sure what the problem is.

Hi Woodman is yours a 2011 golf ? which dealer fitted and got it working for you?
Keen to get mine done as soon as possible
-
Cant be a 2011 my car.
-
Well you could fit your own if you have the VAG-COM. All you need is the switch
Criuse control system for vehicles with multi function indicator 06/01/2010>> 1K0 054 690 B - £57
You just change the switch and programme the ecu to accept it.
VW want £220 to fit it as an option on a new car so it will cost a bit more fitting it afterwards. You will see them available on eBay.
-
Current accessories brochure shows CC as a £162.50 dealer fit. Evo1986 is saying 2011 MY cars cannot have the retrofit at the moment, but VW is working on a solution.
Could never work out why it was a higher priced factory option :undecided:

EVO. Collected my car last wedneday, vw main dealer uk mainland, MY 11 it has rear led lights and says my11 on invoice, so must be. Cruise is dealer retrofit, said they had a problem re code, but all sorted when collected, works perfectly, appears on high level display, so can be done.

Good News
Which Dealer sorted the re-code for you?
My local dealer just keeps on quoting 1038-10 bulletin.

OK, not sure what the difference is between MY11 and MY2011!
The car is a Carbon Grey GTI, Manual, 18's, sensors.
Dealer was Vw Myther Tydfil - Capitol. They said they had to get a code direct from VW.
All seems to work and look fine.

Its just abbreviated. My dealer wrote down MY2010 for me.

Anyone know why the retrofit companies seem to charge ~double for cruise on a >late 2010 car?
Thanks
-
It's because you have to change a lot more on later cars. The stalks are all one on the later cars and the slip ring is different.
VW dealers though have a fixed price, its in the accessory catalogue, its around £188 iirc from a VW main dealer.
Edited: Because of my stupid HTC phone predictive text made no sense and it was doing stupid things.

Yeah can vouch for this....had cruise fitted by the dealers before picking mine up. It was £188 incl fitting!

id rather keep the £188 and get some foot ache!

I asked at my dealer when I had it serviced last month if they retrofit cruise control they said they do but the cost depends when the car was made. Upto weeks 42 of 2010 £180, after it can be £180 plus the cost of a new control module which can be £450.

That's rubbish! It's a set price for all Golf vi's of £188 from VW. This is an advertised price in the accessories brochure and web site. See the attached link. Perhaps the dealers don't make much profit on it?
I'm waiting for mine to be retrofitted to my new car.

I also thought GT cars should have more than standard cars. Why this is not standard (like the Match) is strange. Even stranger is that it is cheaper to get the dealer to fit it than it is from the factory. Funny world we live in.
Perhaps the dealers are getting too many retrofits at this price which is costing them. Hence some are quoting technical difficulties (which they'd also have at the factory and Steve and others would have had if true) or some are not sticking to the advertised price like above?
It seems these dealers are playing games which will wreck their customer satisfaction. And to them I say WATCHDOG!
It's VW silly pricing - not our fault as customers for using it!
Perhaps rather talking to us, perhaps they should speak to VW first and lobby a better deal for UK customers!

At what point did the stalk change? Could this have something to do with it?
When I turn main beam on in my 2010 GT, I push the stalk forward and it stays there. On the newer models when you push it forward, it springs back.

Maybe that is the VW price I'm just quoting what my dealer told me.

Yes. Not your fault - the dealers not quoting the correct price. Why don't you ask again and quote the fitted price on the web site. See what they say then. Worth a go...

Interesting. I will have to try mine and see what it does as i cannot remember :embarassed:
It was suppose to change around middle of 2010 but some say earlier 2010 some say later. Dealer was not sure what mine was when i asked.

Mines week 7 2010 so about that age.If this is a good indication of what version it meens it uses the mk5 stalk which is only about £67 rrp from the dealers as a part. I was going to order the part earlier in the year and take the chance but a family took priority and i forgot about it.

Yes you can get cruise control fitted at VWCruise (http://www.vwcruise.com/Vw-Mk6-Golf-Cruise-Control.html). They fit a lot of OEM kit.
Mines an early 2010 so the older switch should fit I would have thought.

That looks good and cheaper than the main dealer.
So with the newer stalk it's cheaper to use the main dealer. With the older one this company looks good!
