hi new to vw ownership got myself a fairly tidy looking mk4 gti in red 1.8t 20v 5dr never had a golf b4 but really suprised me how nice it drives for older car than im used to driving.sadly my fireworks of owning my golf were pee'd on due to a problem with the fan not kicking in so if stuck in traffic or left running at standstill the car overheats.need to get it sorted as is a pain but when on move its obviously ok with air flowing onto the rad it stays at a good temp.i have my own valeting company so once i given the golf a once over i will post up some pics.

Welcome. I had a very similar problem with my mk3 it turned out the brushes in the fan had worn out so it only turned on randomly. I fitted a new fan and it sorted it all out
