-
Yes
-
Thought so
-
no actually same

no actually same
oh cool :D

Does this mean yes cos I've just destroyed one and could get some 8v ones but do they fit. Mines an 87 16valve if that helps
-
8vs ones 100% fit 16v. the gearbox is identical in size, and also engine is too
-
They r the same av just got an 8v one for my 16 and it works

Might be wrong but were the later ones not bigger output flanges on the gearbox. :undecided:

I think you're confusing the sub-GTI vehicles where they use 90mm CVs, not the 100mm CVs of the GTI/16V

Yep I was, thanks for clearing it up, I knew some were 90mm.
Cheers

1.6 and lower use 90mm flanges, 1.8 gti/carby/16v use 100mm flanges

This is balls.
Lower than GTI = 90mm flanges.
Syncro is 1.8 and that's on 90mm flanges.
What is a 'carby'?
-
Looks like we are both right!
re-looking at etka early 1.8 carbed MK2 2WD and syncro were indeed 90mm, chassis break was up to 1G-K-990 000 which is around late 89 to 90. my mistake was just checking 1990 MK2 in etka
carby = carburettor equipped MK2 if you want to be captain pedantic
edit: well, technically we were both wrong and Wayne was right
