Title: the bottom half of my air filter box/cover

okay so went to check my air filter yesterday and came to find out that the bottom part of the box that holds the air filter wasnt connected to anything. i was apparently told that as long as the air inlet hose on the top was connected that the air filter should block all excess air from getting in meaning that it's not causing any problems. but im tryin to restore my car and i figure this, although it isnt necessarily negatively effecting my car, is something i want to fix. anyways there are two holes. one on the front of the box and one on the back. according to the hanes book the back goes to the warm air hose? and the front hole is the seal? where does the warm air hose connect to? and what the heck does the seal connect to??? the book only labeled the parts and the pictures only showed the parts not what either connects to it (in the case of the front hole) and what it connects to (the warm air hose)...

People remove the air trumpet out the front of the air box to give it induction roar which leaves a huge hole.
Dont think it connects to anything its just a sort of funnel

As far as i'm aware and after restoring the whole air box housing and afm the front funnel just sits behind the headlight. The air box is held down by two rubber rings one on the side almost opposite the cam cover and the other at the back by the cold air feed. The air box itself locates into two holes in the front leg of the engine bay. HTH

from the factory there was a plastic shroud around the headlight which the front trumpet attached to. there are different parts to this depending if its early or late mk2 16v, or digifant

just curious is this induction roar just make the car louder when i drive it?  :huh: haha

removing the front cone altogether is a good mod, toyotec did a post comparign several combos of airbox, cone filter and modifications. smoothed airbox with a trumpet modded in the top half came out on top.  was for an abf though, cant put a trumpet in a digi due to the afm really, and k-jet its not really gonna be possible either.  but yeah, cone removal from the front works nice
