Title: Dying Revs and misfire on startup.
Post by: M on 19 August 2003, 07:52
When I start the engine on my 1990 16v the revs rise and then when they go down to idle speed they drop even further whilst the car starts to misfire and almost stall.  This happens for a coulple of seconds before the revs rise sharply and then settle at idle speed.  I read in another post recently about the injector seals perishing, does this seem to be the same problem?  If so, are they easy and cheap to change?

Many thanks

M

I had the same problem on my old '88 16v. It turned out to be the idle stablisation valve sticking. I took it to a mechanic who just cleaned it out which made a load of difference.
