my mk3 gti every time i put my foot on the break it uses the rear indicator lights instead of the break light, if im indicating and break, it stops the indicators!! wtf is going on???
-
Fault in the wiring, faulty switch or bad earth.
-
Thats usually a Peugeot trait! first time I have heard it on a Mk3!
Check earth first then pull out the bulb holders and see if there is any loose silver stuff or any dirt/moisture
-
i would deffinatley go with the bad earth, maybe try a different set of light units just to rule them out, if you still have the problem you will have a wiring issue
-
the earths for rear lights are behind the boot carpets i believe. usually mthough the issue is the plugs on the lights or the bulb holders, the earth points dont usually go wrong as out of the way of any moisture
-
Yes mate thats exactly where the earth is!
-
coolio ta for zee confirmation len my good chap
-
Only know coz I use it to earth my amp!
-
As above, i call the above fault disco lights as they flicker/flash in all different manners/ways. i failed a peugeot 306 and mk3 gti the other on there MOT's for the above fault and both times it was a simple earthing issue
-
I got it, it was the seal having perished and there was alot of water and corrosion. screwdriver and tooth pick soon cleared it up till new part arrives today!!!
