Title: Modest boot build
Post by: Chowgar1 on 22 October 2010, 11:54
Hey guys quick question...

I am looking to add a sub and amp to the system in my MK5... my question is I really need to keep the space in the boot (family 'n' all) is there a modest size sub you can get that will take as little space as possible prefferably an arch build to keep it out the way... I'm not looking to have the loudest system on the block just increase the bass and depth to the sound system... currently running the RNS 510 and the standard GTI spec speaker arrangement...

any thoughts?

The arch build sounds like a good bet. I've also seen under seat subs.... so they wouldn't take any space in your boot at all.

yeah subs are geting compact nowerdays. you can get things like (http://www.dvbcaraudio.co.uk/armageddon-amplified-under-seat-subwoofer-pi-8589.html?image=0&osCsid=2c9463d22847eda65f90cda1c4a0b4bd) for not too much nowere days (dont know what that ones like, just used it as a example) and even thinner ones. not sure on the sound quality and personally ide prefer a proper sub.

you could always make a false floor and put the sub in then  put a guard over the sub, this is what im going to do. will get some pics up when finished.

but if you oftern have things in the boot something small could slip onto the sub. in which case a arch build sounds good.

I have noticed the Pioneer TS-SW841D type small woofers.... look like the kind of size that could be built into an arch easily without compromising space.... any experts give some advice if these small sub woofers would provide the extra depth of sound I am looking for?

Theres also a guy on the mk6 forum by the username AM1W who has a pioneer sub system pro fitted just under the front of the passenger seat.

Hurdy also has a thread on here about how he make his wheelarch subbox for his Hertz 10" sub in his mk5.
