i have the 110 tdi, and as the weather has turned alot colder recently, when i go start the car, the glow plug light stays on for ever! I know its ment to help starting the engine, but these glow plugs were new in february and they do nothing fast when starting up! is there another issue behind it? before i changed them it was a few seconds max the light would be on. thanks

Glowplugs only really help at stupidly cold temps, mine stays on about 4-5 seconds in the cold weather, talking around 1-2 degrees this is.

This could be the relay playing up (which controls how much power is sent to the glowplug) or more likely a temperature sender problem.
There are two i think on the side of the head, one is a coolant sensor and the other is the one for the cylinder and glowplugs, I would suspect that this isn't reading right, and as such is leaving the glow plugs on for a long time. Would be worth having a look, and if you can, see if you can check the relay with someone else's (if you know someone with your model of car)
