Title: Springs don't fit...
Post by: Jack3559 on 21 October 2010, 12:48
Springs are too wide at the top and keep pinging over the spring caps when I undo the clamps...

Am I doing something wrong or are they just sh!t springs?

Haha!

Yeah, they are.

Big at the bottom small at the top.

I'm pretty pissed off about it now.

Spring sizes changed, 65mm and 85mm I believe.

Had exactly the same problem with my vr when i bought some new Jamex suspension from ebay.

Had to go to the stealers, buy the larger spring plates and fit them, only way to solve this issue.

what top mounts does it have too, if its the earlier ones with the bearing and top mount all in 1 piece you cant fit them to these springs, you'll have to convert to MK3 GTI top mount and large spring plate setup

Yeah...

I'm going to need the bigger spring plates.

The rears are nowhere near low enough either, but I really don't want to be sending stuff back to Belgium.

as well as GTI top mounts + bearings, you need:
1J0 412 341 - MK3 GTI upper spring plate, large size
1H0 412 365 A - threaded bush
N   105 352 01- top nut
