85 k jet 8 valve, starts on the button, but if you blip the throttle, engine revs, then comes down to idle and just cuts out.
Pain in the ass if your coming out of the driveway in the morning and it cuts out on the main road.
Sweet as a nut when warm.
Any sugeestions or similar problems ?

Any Ideas ?

TRY the search button mate and type 8V rough idle, ISV, etc.. This gets asked every other day go to advance and untick all then select MK2 maintence and garage.

Go to advance search untick all then select MK2 MK2 matineance and garage then type "Cold start issues"
I found some in 0.003 sec's give it a go once you play with the search words it helps like 8V cold start idle issue, ISV idle when cold, Rough idle at start, etc... like I've said it gets asked a thousand times and hence I'm the only fool relpying politely back to you fella

what have you tried already? start with the easy stuff, clean out throttle body and check over all the vacuum hoses for cracks and splits. look in all the folds of the inlet boots for cracks, you need to take them off the car to check they like to split deep in the folds underneath where its impossible to spot from above. check over all the wiring too, look for any damaged wiring or dodgy looking repairs.
once you are 100% sure there are no air leaks get it up to temp and check the timing, it should be set to around 6 degrees BTDC at idle. use a timing light down the gearbox inspection hole, theres a big diamond on the flywheel you use to set this. the big green plastic bung needs to be unscrewed before you can see it. once thats all set get the idle reset to 900rpm, and set CO to 1.8%.
thats about all you can do on the k-jet without proper fuel pressure gauges

My 16valve started foin it. Isv is a bit dodgy but not bad. Only in the morning for a minute or so. I turned the air up and the tickover to get round it.
