Hi all,
I want to remove the front slam panel so I can re-furbish it and remove the corrosion but thought it best to seek advice on what is involved in removing it. I'm going to be replacing the grille due to one of the spot lights being pushed in so it seems like a good time to have the slam panel off.
Cheers in advance

From memory, remove the grill, and just hunt round for iirc x7 10mm self tapping style bolts, one of the bolts attaches to the lower front panel, also iirc its easier to disconnect the bonnet release cable when you have to panel off the car, and in your hands, also remove the radiator top mountings, 2x 10mm bolts, and disconnect the horn and headlamp wiring
Before removal, its worth marking the ends where the slam panel overlaps the inner wing edge, run round the edge with a pen or pencil, this will help when you come to refit the panel, and you'll know exactly how it was positioned before..

Sounds easy enough then, job for the weekend. Wonder what i'll find behind it thats needs sorting

Take it easy with the self tapping bolts. I had a look at removing my slam panel and noticed the bolts into the main chassis legs were surrounded by corrosion. So while it may be easy enough to remove, It may not be so well affixed when you put it back! If its been there 20 years or so, it could be staying put out of habbit.
A suitable replacement through bolt may be in order....

I could always get the torque wrench on it
I'll see what they look like, i tried removing the alternator and that bottom bolt was pretty stuck fast too.

iirc thom is correct.
they're an easy panel to remove once the grill is off.
i removed once recently in the local breakers. it was on top of a daewoo which was on top of a transit   i was perched one the bonnet of the daewoo.
if i can do it 3 vehicles up, then anyone can do it
