the girlfriends car has started to stall now. it has stalled on occasion in the past but has started to be more regular.. she has the gti 8v. i have been nosing through some of the topics and it seems the usual suspect is a dirty throttle body. if this is the case, am i better cleaning with carb cleaner while engine running or am i better removing and doing while of the car, could there be anything else causing the stalling, its not all the time but like i said, it is getting more regular, girlfriend just told me that it hunts and when the rev drops it stalls so any advice is appreciated
thanks graham

Best to take the throttle body off and use carb cleaner. You may need a new gasket when replacing though (?!) Also, I think there is a known relay that can cause the stalling problem, best have a look through the mk3 maintenance section.
