yesterday some stupid b***h crashed into me  long story short she turned left into a side street, i went past and as i did she decided she wanted to turn right, the outcome, a lovely load of srapes and a dent in my door and a totally mashed wing :/ i had a quick look behind the wheel (not hard when the wing had been pushed about 3 inches back behind the wheel, everythign seemed ok, we went through the motions blah blah blah (turns out her car wasnt driveable, serves her right)
i thought it was just cosmetic, the steering wheel was a bit off centre but seeing as th car handled the same i thought the tracking had just been messed around, but whipped the wheel off today and the steering arm is bent about 5/6mm
the car obvs isnt worth alot money wise (altho the sentimental value is huge) and im worried the insurance will write the thing off :/
will a steering arm/rack cost much? does anyone have any experience with this sort of crash, would they pay out for the repairs or are they most probably gonna write it off?
cheers for your help guys

arm will be 20-40 depending where you go, if no play or any oddness when driving your rack is probably ok. if they do write it off get as much money as you can off them then buy it back off em, should end up with a nice profit in your pocket after the repairs if you do it yourself

hmm yeah, ive never had a crash before so im new to how all this crap works, so how much would it cost to buy the car back off the insurance :S i thought maybe they would give it me and maybe the value of the car (which i put on the policy as £400 asthis was what they were selling at on ebay dn all at the time) it doesnt help that now the woman who crahsed into me is claiming i was overtaking her :@ and it really doesnt help that im a 17 year old boy :/

well as long as they rule its not your fault you should be ok, otherwise your premiums are gonna take a hit. this is where a disposable camera in the glovebox is worth having, take tons o pics of the scene straight after then the other party cant lie about what happened then.
does my nut in how peeps try it on some silly bint drove into rear quarter of my gf car then tried to make out it was our fault, luckily they ruled in our favour as its a bit hard for you to hit someone else with the rear quarter and door of your car
hopefully after a good look at damage to both your and her car they'll be able to see it was her that hit you not the other way round., go back to scene and take pics of the street where it happened too, show that you cant overtake there etc

i did have my phone on me bu in the heat of the moment you dont think about taking pics do you :/
one question, should she have even been driving at 9 months pregnant, turns out she had gone into hospital today to have the baby, surely there is something that says such a heavily pregnant woman shouldnt be driving at that stage, i mean what if she started getting really bad pains and mowed down a line of lil kids and a lillypop lady crossing the road because she was in too much pain to see them or stop in time :S

well i dont thinkthere is a law against it, but really isnt a good idea! certaily wouldnt let the wife drive around if she was that far gone, specially if car has an airbag
