Title: The shakes
Post by: Justins145bhpMK1 on 31 January 2005, 12:27

Ever since I had new tyres on the front of my car its developed a steering wheel vibration at 80+. I took it back to the tyre people and they checked their balancing etc and told me 1 wheel was buckl;ed. I got a replacement, had that fitted and its still doing it!!! help!!

was the replacement new or second hand?
do you have spacers behind your wheels?
and is it when you stay at 80, or is it when you brake at all?

How the heck did you buckle a wheel?
Why did you change the tyres? Did they wear out or did you hit something, burst a tyre and buckle the wheel?

If its the latter then i would say get your steering/suspension checked out!

If it only happened after the tyres were changed, then it MUST be wheel balance

Hi, tyres were replaced as they were worn. havent hit anything, totally standard set up with wheels etc. vibration is when driving not braking.

Ill get the wheels balanced AGAIN then and see what happens!

jack up car and hand rotate wheel. should be noticeable if wheel is buckled. also make sure wheel is seated properly against hub. i had a problem with atfer market wheels hitting little plastic spacer. hope this helps
