top motor m8, looks awesome :).
-
Cant stand bonnet bra's  nothing personal though... car looks nice though, had it long?
-
I have never liked the Silver Mark 3's but this looks a nice motor Mate and I think the Bra suits it well.
-
Apart from the bra, looks good.
-
Apart from the bar, looks good.
Its got a bar! best mod ever. (if you're not driving!)
-
I love silver mk3s and im pretty sure I nearly bought this car some time ago but couldnt finalise a deal.Could be wrong but you dont see many sets of those BBS wheels are they?Sweet ride anyway mate looks super clean
-
Ah a fellow sliver mk3 owner , defo best colour to have.
Got a bra myself , only goes on when going on a long journey, make sure if it on most of the time is poilsh the metal underneth before puting it on.
a set of black side repeaters would suit it more!!
adz
-
cheers for the comments chaps, was undecided about the bra myself to be honest, lost count how many times i've had it on and off now
i've had it for about 4 months now, not sure what model the alloys are, keep meaning to have a ask on wheel whores see if anyone on there has ideas as to what they are.
-
today i enjoyed the slight impracticalities of owning a lowered car, first yesterday reversing out of my dads drive my splitter went bye byes,
(http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y379/dazzawest/IMG_0127.jpg)i then drove 200 mile round trip to get some wheels to put on while i refurb mine, thanks snifferdog, had to put wood under the wheels to raise it enough to get the jack under the i take the wheels off to find the tyres i put on less than 5 months ago shagged
(http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y379/dazzawest/IMG_0126.jpg)
on the plus side wheels now on and the car is clean
(http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y379/dazzawest/IMG_0129.jpg)
-
Looks like youve had a busy day mate!! Car is lookin good! I even quite like the standard wheels on it  Are you changing the colour of your wheels when you refurb em?
-
i quite like it on standard rims, need the other half of my splitter back dont like it without, yea more than likely gonna be a change of colour, throwing around a few ideas at the mo, some sort of luminous colour is virtualy a dead cert,
-

just clocked your number plate
-
Your tyres have worn like that due to camber / tracking being out.
-
Looks really well the wheels im sure here BBS as the guy I went to buy it off was telling me how expensive they were.AsWayne said your camber and tracking need sorting I had mine done straigt after the coilovers were fitted as if you dont your tyres last about 10 mins.Like it though looks really nice
-
Yea I know tracking out slightly, there's. No adjustment on the camber though is there? Yea the wheels are bbs I tried searching to find out what model they are. Might put a pic on wheelwhores see if anyone on there knows. Goin to make a start on my wheels this weekend got a few other minor touches aswell.
-
Yea the camber can be out as there is slight play in the shock bolts.. But need doing at a garage so they can read the camber correctly, the slak the bolts off from underneath then push or pull the whell till it says 0deg. then tighten up again.!! :) happy days
Nice looking car tho mate.
-
cool, thought that might be the sollution, i work for land rover, we got a 4 wheel alignment machine so once i've done the wheels and sorted the tyres i'll bosh it on and sort it out,
-
Yes camber is fully adjustable.
-
busy weekend this one tinted and joeyed headlights, matte blacked the grille and made a start on my wheels
(http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y379/dazzawest/IMG_0143.jpg)
thanks to LL for sorting out the tints, they werent to bad to fit and with the black grille make a big difference to the front end
(http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y379/dazzawest/IMG_0137.jpg)
rims are only in white primer at the mo, centres are matte black dont really look it in the pics though.

loose the bra it looks :lipsrsealed:
-
i will do eventually, it's serving a purpose at the mo the roads on my way to work are covered in crap,
-
Looks nice mate . Not a fan of the bra's personally. Tint the fogs, blanks and indicators and maybe pin stripe the front and rear bumpers?
-
Lookin good mate, I like what you've done with the headlights, I might have to have a go myself. Wheels are starting to look good too.
-
I did think about the pin stripe look, think I might smooth the bumpers and maybe change the colour, dunno yet though.
Wheels look alot better already all the scuffs a kerbing marks are gone just need to take my time and paint them now.
Pm lazylunatic if your interested in tints, the tints and joey mod ain't that hard to do. Just take your time when doing them
Cheers for your comments
-
wheels are almost done, not bolted together yet this is what they look like though
(http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y379/dazzawest/IMG_0149.jpg)

car looks crackin very clean from the pictures
and weirdly im loving your wheels :D did you find out what they are bbs -
-
WOAH!...well i wasn't expecting that from the last wheel picture.
-
liking the wheels mate, very good job.
-
Thanks, wasnt sure what response the wheels would get, and yea done a bit of searching and googling found the wheels are bbs rw2's
Hopefully should get them bolted back together soon and when the crappy weather eases off back on the car
Cheers
Darren
-
Good work!!
Liking the project so far!!
-
nice work on the wheels!
-
right finally finished my wheel got some tyres and got them fitted, really pleased with them. werent to sure part way through painting them, no they're on though . also painted my mirror covers and rear badge to match. stuck a bit of pink vinyl on the front gti badge. it's a bit off colour to the rest of the pink though so going to try get that sorted before the end of the week.
dunno if you can notice in the pics centre caps are missing, a friend of a friend is making some up for me and should have them back soon, also my red calipers need painting black as they dont match even a lil bit.
front splitter was put on after pics taken will update again hopefully friday with centre caps and splitter

-
Wtf, ouch my eyes
-
Unique, i like!
Although there is something that really doesn't look right. I think it might be the mirrors.. :undecided:
If it was me, the centre of the wheels would be silver, the grille would all be one colour, the mirrors would be silver and the badges would stay the same.
Good work though! :afro:
-
wheels = cool, but somewhere they dont work on the car... i think i agree with f5 man here!!
but hey, your car dude, certainly see ya comin!
-
Fantastic job on the wheels, what kind of paint did you use for the pink?..... They look great.
I think the mirrors draw your eyes away from the wheels so IMO are too much but other than that, looks great.
-
Yea can see what your saying bout the mirrors they don't look quite so stand outish in person, know what your saying though considered doing them matt black but not sure yet
-
Wheels - yes (although would probably look better lower and / or without the GTI arch trims)
Other pink parts - No (Makes it look tacky imo)
-
dammm the eyes the eyes looks sweet though dude!
-
For me this is so close yet so far, the rims, if they were the other way round (Black outers / pink centres) i would have said they were wicked.
Would not have done any of the other pink bits tho - maybe the GTI logos on the side trims and thats it
-
Great work on the wheels it does look bright but it does look pretty cool to
-
Wheels - yes (although would probably look better lower and / or without the GTI arch trims)

+1 lowered and without the pink mirrors/badges and with pink centres on the wheels and it would look good. To me it looks a bit OTT at the moment :undecided:
-
Yea, I want it lower too, the coilovers on it at the mo are pretty corroded so not going to even try
To wind them down will jus lead to problems.
Pink badges will stay not sure on mirror covers at the mo.
Contemplated pink centres and black outers, think that would have been too much though
-
Looks good, although I'm not sure on the colour scheme you're going for.
Hold on....
Now eyes don't hurt
-
mirrors have gone black and centre caps have been fitted

-
Much, much better :afro:
-
Fitted these today, harder to fit than I expected
(http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y379/dazzawest/743fe80a.jpg)
-
Agreed mirrors look better and it looks really fresh mate love your headlights to works really well with silver
-
i so want to hate your wheels but i cant they look bloody awesome mate as does the car.
loving it.
-
Much much better with the black mirrors :afro;
-
Love It Love It Love It!!
Breaking the mould is the way forward!
Whats next ??
-
Thanks you all for your comments always appreciated, plans are next get it a bit lower, then start tidying engine bay and saving for some sort of respray
-
NICE  Where did you get the centre caps from??
-
Bought a cheap set of vw centre caps off eBay and gave them to my mates dad who's a sign writer to put the matt black background on and make up the vw sign and put that on top the colour match he's got is near perfect aswell
-
Right few updates and a plan, start with updates, car didnt sell which i was v happy about, so i ordered and fitted one of those powerchips off ebay, pleasantly surprised definate improvement in the powerband noticably quicker. next fancied a change up front done a deal with LL for some tints in exchange for a rad, and tinted my front fogs, matt blacked my standard grille and fitted that, also fitted my red and black badge to the boot aswell, couple of pics
(http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y379/dazzawest/800dccb9.jpg)
right now the plans ; got a huge crack in my windscreen so that should be sorted first, remove the centre box, interior changes (prob black headlining, pass harness ect.), trim the arches and lower the suspension a smidge more, tidy engine bay. these are plans for the near future and distant future poss respray and engine change, long way off yet though
cheers for reading
-
Not seen this until now, looks wicked! Well done, buddy. :)
-
cheers shady, was just looking at your motor funny enough
-
cheers shady, was just looking at your motor funny enough
Scary shiz.
I am loving the colour scheme, although I think I preferred the pink GTi badge as opposed to the current one.
-
 really, not many people have said that  , while i have your attn though what back box have you got on your car? looks  , love these  ,
-
 really, not many people have said that  , while i have your attn though what back box have you got on your car? looks  , love these  ,
It was a backbox I bought for my old GL, not a whole system, not sure of the brand but it's 3.5" twin, I imagine you'd be able to pick a similar one up from the 'bay.
-
The current grille looks better, the matt black slats look wicked with the tinted lamps. What difference has removing the centre exhaust box made to the sound
-
Cheers, I'll let you kno when i get it removed, it's one of my many many plans. It's must make it alot louder but we'll see
-
right old gti rims have now been sold so, going to book in to powerflow for the mid box to be removed asap, windscreen will be replaced at beginning of next month and im hoping to get some time and material to do my roof lining. Aim is to get all this sorted by gti international might not sound much but i am very busy with work and family ect, it is light in the evenings though so hopefully might get some progress in the evenings. thanks for reading
Darren
-
Looking good, but i must also say, get the pink grill badge on there
Glad you havent sold it, i love this car!
-
Cheers stow, I'm glad I didn't sell it aswell  , I'm not sure about the pink badges at the mo, need together some vinyl that matches the wheels, main reason I took the pink off was coz it was different to the rest,
Going to powerflow Tomoz so they can give me a price on my exhaust, going to order some suede this weekend and maybe another harness depends how money goes
-
Got some samples for my roof lining retrim today, think I'm going to stick with black was tempted with the cow one though  giraffe was jus to see what the colour was like in person and the fact I had to order 4 samples
(http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y379/dazzawest/f05c5ba2.jpg)
-
A full giraffe interior retrim would be amazing.
-
I know  , I'll get a car one day that I can do it to, won't suit my car though
-
not had a good day today me and car, went down to powerflow going to be a tenner more than i expected, he's going do a proper job though so not to bad, booked in for next saturday at the mo, may change to monday depends on work.
then just pulling into my cul de sac a some knobby traffic cop pulls up behind me and follows me in and slaps me with a £60 fine for my number plates (d instead of gb) let me of my windscreen though,
ordered a pair from dubmeister now £40  atleast there legal though he tried telling me i wasnt aloud embossed plates, read up on it and cant see that thats true

So long as they conform to the standards (which Dubmeister ones do) then they are legit. Shame he gave you the fine, when I had German plates on my GL I was ever so polite, I may as well of just asked the officer on a date. He let me off but said "I know where you live..." I didn't quite know how to take that. :lipsrsealed:
I've been running the UK pressed plates for a total of about 2 years now and not had any problems. :afro:
-
Get some good mounts, powerflow ones are crud at least mine were.
-

£300worth of exhaust on the floor behind you at worst, or the gadonka gadonka gadonka gdonka ding on the rear beam
-
Yea I thought it was a bit unfair considering they're e marked aswell, Ive been pulled with them before and police jus checked they're reflective, hey ho, dubmeister ones on order.
He's gonna fit new mounts if they're no good I'll get some powerflex mounts.
I expected £80 for the exhaust ended up £90, minor really was jus annoyed bout the knobby traffic police
-
Glad your keeping it mate its a lovely motor I nearly bought it some time ago  I think your headlights are the best joey moded ones Ive seen they just look really good
-
Cheers mate, think Dom prob takes title of best headlights, glad you think mine are up there with his though

Ah sliver mk3's
Plates look good mate , think the badge on the rear would look better black..
-
Thought I'd update this quick, just recovered my rooflining ( first attempt was a nightmare, wrong material wrong glue) Redone it today using black suede material from fabric-online.co.uk and wickes contact adhesive. Took my time took me about 4-5 hours. Also last weekend painted all my trims satin black, looks bang on factory finish, few pics I'll get some more when it's fitted.
How I started (http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y379/dazzawest/a303a5c1.jpg)
(http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y379/dazzawest/cfead353.jpg) (http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y379/dazzawest/0fc71424.jpg)
Hardest part (http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y379/dazzawest/53021c38.jpg)
finished, the jagged edge is a curtain not the roof lining (http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y379/dazzawest/b3598aef.jpg) (http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y379/dazzawest/44f1049b.jpg)

-
Does make a difference, looks more expensive.
-
looks spot on mate , defo a big improvement
-
How the fcuk did you get the headlining not to like it was all folded on itself round the handle and light areas? I made a mess of mine!
Looks spot on really liking the inside of that
-
Wow, not seen this car since it was first posted... Massive improvement, car looks so much better than it did when you first got it... great work. :afro:
-
Looks like a good job mate, is the adhesive brush on or spray?
-
yh i f**ked mine up, whats your technique, as i f**ked the handles up aswell!
-

my first attempt was a real cock up, but the material was to thick and the spray glue i used was crap. i changed the type of material i used, i got mine from www.fabric-online.co.uk and changed the glue to wickes contact adhesive and that made it a lot easier, although i still couldnt get the front part right, where the lamp is i kept getting loads of slack. ended up having to cut a slit in the material which fortunately you cant see as it faces away from you.
cheers mate, just need to get round to ordering the passenger harness and it'll be sorted for the time being

cheers mate, big fan of your car
-
Looks like a good job mate, is the adhesive brush on or spray?
adhesive comes in a tin with a scraper, i used a mix of the scraper and a brush
yh i f**ked mine up, whats your technique, as i f**ked the handles up aswell!
done a lil bit at a time and took my time about it, makes a big difference using contact adhesive and thinner slightly stretchy material
-
thanks for all your comments
-
love the liner mate, going to be doing mine, ill take a look at this what u have used
where did you get the grab handles and how much were they ? had a guy on ed38 asking silly money for some so i passed
-
As said before your headlining looks really good,
didnt think to cut and shut mine, but then again my fabric is patterned which was a bad idea
-
Cheers mate think I might have been able to avoid it if I had started that end, this cars sold now anyways got to do the same to my polo now
