Just been paintballin with my some lads, An my sister turned up with her new bloke who got a saxo vts or vtr , The quicker 1 anyway, He been bangin on about it bein superchipped an sh1t of a shovel, :angry:
So we pulls up at lights at start of dual carriageway, An he pulls in the second lane an looks over an winks, :wink:
So we sets off an he pulls away about a car length as im goin 1st an 2nd, But then when i hits 3rd i catches him an leaves him :grin:
He didnt mention his saxo at the painballin after :evil:

Brother inlaw has a 106 1.1 and that is quite nippy, brakes are sh!t thou. i thinks its the design of the car that makes your sis bloke feel that its quick :rolleyes:.
I think its the VTS. its a 1.6 16v, quick car, not as quick as a mk2 gti :grin:

Yeah he did say it was a 16v so it must be VTS, It was funny though when he realised my 23 year old car could beat his super saxo ,,

VTR ain't quick, VTS's have a bit of poke and to be fair to them they were a bloody good littel car when brand spanyky new but the rear torsion twisty nastyness of a rear supention setup goes a bit ghay after 30k of been driven then that sort of buggers up there real world speed.
200SX pick a twisty road on a wet day :cool:

gotta say the vts is a quick lil car and truthfully i dont think my mk2 is as quick as ma old vts !

My ex had a VTR, was quite pokey but we never raced.
Mine's definitely better looking though :cool: :rolleyes:

vtr is slow,was like night n day goin from a vtr to a vts (bit of a soft spot for saxos haha )

my excuse for buying a saxo VTS would be as follows. "it was cheep now i can sell it to a chav and have profit"

they are made from tin and everyhing held by plastic clips but they are cheep and cheerful especially wen a was on apprentice mechanics wages

I have a VTS aswel as the 8v golf, used to have a VTR aswel.
VTS's are nippy little things, I have no idea what he was on about 'superchipped' but they are 120bhp standard and can hit 62 in second.
I have no idea about the 16v golf's but as you said I would imagine it to lose out lower down & then be slightly quicker top end

book times for 0-60 are slightly quicker on a VTS, it weighs about the same as a MK2 16v but peak torque and peak power are lower (would be interesting to compare the torque curves).
They seem pretty evenly matched in a straight line... but then who cares. If he feels good about himself, driving a superchipped VTS then fair enough. To be honest if he feels so good about his superchip and blags about it all the time, then a Saxo probably suits him.
Of course there's also a chance that the 'Superchip' has pissed all over his fuel maps and timing.

I also had a Mk1 VTR when i was 18 and it was a great lil car at that age.
Then i upgraded to a MK2 VTS at 20, it had a few toys on it so handled very well and stopped well too, the mk2 16v engines were really well put together and i had no issues with it at all in the 2 years i thrashed it round the place, had it on the rolling road and it was 129bhp with induction and catback exhaust

I think they look like great examples, imo saxo's are a great little car. Just the annoying rep you get and the amount of retards that kit them out with chav gear.

I can only assume he himself thought that 'superchip' related to some kind of 'supercharger' style power upgrade. Ah well :grin:

saxo's are very capable cars, just like all the little french hatchbacks. shame you need girls feet to drive them

I raced one of these vts's and all the way through upto 3rd gear I was on his bumper. Damn thing got in my way. It gave me a shock though thought my 16valve would fly straight past it.

I struggled with one few months back, it started about 2 cars length infront, but only caught up when in 3rd, Got a 2.0l but was running mega lean! Will blow them away once my ms is all done

We started off at same time, He got about a cars length ahead, But then when i got it gowin in 3rd i sailed past him,
I had my brother in my car an he was sayin no chance would i beat it,
Cause he hates my car,
But after he was pleasently surprised,,

Glad you beat it mate!! I do have a little soft spot for the VTS, never driven one or even been in one but they have good reviews for a small car where handling is concerned. That said, GTi's handle fooking well for their age!
