Ive got exhaust / engine fumes coming into the car and was wondering if any of you can shed some light on this, my 8V GTI has a new stainless exhaust with no leaks, I have replaced the manifold gasket, the fumes only enter the cabin when the cars moving with a window open or heater fan on.
I have checked and replaced some of the vacuum hoses, theres no fumes blowing out of the breather when the tops taken off or when reving the engine, Im going to take the top off and renew the valve stem seals as it uses a little oil and theres the odd puff of smoke but thought Id pick your brains first

I had a slow drip from one of the fuel hoses from the pressure regulator that was being burnt off on the exhaust manifold a while back and caused fumes to stream in through the vents/windows. Could be something worth checking!

There's a seal that runs along under the bonnet. (Next to the ecu) Make sure there are no gaps. Also make sure all the gromets are in the bulk head.

Thanks for the responses, i will whip the head off over the weekend and replace the valve stem seals as I think its related to that & together with the odd puff out the rear exhaust.
